Overall
Along with its twin the Ford Freestar, the Monterey was new in 2005. Unfortunately, it's driving dynamics and overall funcationality is still too close to the old Ford/Mercury minivans.

Poor steering and handling, brakes. Engine so-so. Ponderous

Soft, but quite floaty, seats no comfortable, dated.

Questionable control logic, seat flexibility suspect.
Design/Build Quality
Weak materials and fit, dated look, but a bit nicer than Freestar.
Family Friendly Extensive list of safety features.
Comfortable Front seat heaters and coolers. Third-row seating can flip over to a rear-facing position for tailgate parties.
Cargo Hauler Many storage areas and fold-flat third row seat.
