2005 Mercury Monterey Premier 4dr Minivan (4.2L 6cyl 4A)

Review

We have owned this van for almost 4 years. It has been a purchase. It is comfortable on long drives with great features such as DVD, Heated/Cooled Seats, and fold down rear seat.

Favorite Features

Dual Power Doors, Power Lift-gate, DVD player, Fold down rear seat, Heat/Cooled Seats (Love the cooled part), and ride.

Suggested Improvements

Gas mileage could be better. We have the 4.2L and we average about 14 mpg in town and only 22 on the highway. Would love to have a Nav System. Dealer support could be better. I know our van is an up scale Freestar, but dealers need to pay better care to higher level purchases.

2005 Mercury Monterey Convenience 4dr Minivan (4.2L 6cyl 4A)

Review

My 2nd mini-van; very functional and fun to drive. 2 minor complaints; storage bins not deep enough, lift gate light not automatic. Use the folding 3rd row seat several times a week. DVD player great when having children on a trip. Sorry they stopped making them.

Favorite Features

Automatic lights and climate control, fog lights, steering wheel controls

Suggested Improvements

Deeper storage bins, automatic lift gate light

2005 Mercury Monterey Luxury 4dr Minivan (4.2L 6cyl 4A)

Review

Purchased 9/2005 due to Friends/Family Pricing. MSRP over 33,000 but with 6,000 in rebates and Family pricing, came to just over 23,000. With some 10,000 off list, MONTEREY is an EXCEPTIONAL value ! Stable, quiet and smooth rider. Well appointed interior. Wood/chrome trim; dash chrome analog clock a "showpiece". With its long list of standard features, choosing Monterey over Freestar seemed like a "no-brainer"; and compared to Toyota and Honda we saved thousands due to rebates/pricing not to mention just being able to afford a vehicle of this caliber ! This replaced a 2000 Ford Windstar and no comparison to the comfort and "luxury" feel of the Monterey. Really like this one !!

Favorite Features

Comfortable leather seating, especially front and 2nd row. Wife loves the Parking Sensors-front and rear. Power Liftgate is just great, along with Power Side Doors. Memory setting for foot pedals and mirrors, steering wheel audio controls and the excellent sound system. Stylish front-end/grill.

Suggested Improvements

Heated leather seats- standard on 2004 Luxury model was option in 2005. Leather seats should ALWAYS come standard as heated !! Had Dealer intstall seat-heaters as part of deal or wife would have walked !! Gas mileage not the greatest, but hey, it's a van. Currently getting 16/17 city; 21/22 highway.

2005 Mercury Monterey Premier 4dr Minivan (4.2L 6cyl 4A)

Review

I didn't want a minivan, she did and got her way. However, I'm glad we bought it. The front seats are both power, heated and cooled. The second row of captain chairs are also comfortable. The third row isn't as comfortable, but we normally keep it hidden in the floor. The power sliding doors are a real convenience when carrying grandbabies or groceries. Also like the in dash 6 CD changer. Wish it had a GPS navigation system. But that's all I would add. Love to drive it. It is very agile for a minivan and is actually pretty quick off the line.

Favorite Features

Heated and cooled front seats, power side doors and 6 cd in dash changer

Suggested Improvements

It needs a navigation system so I can throw the atlas away.

2005 Mercury Monterey Premier 4dr Minivan (4.2L 6cyl 4A)

Review

Slight steering wander on highway. Noisy brake pedal. At around 5000 mi. Gas mileage only slightly over 19 mpg after driving 500 highway miles and a little city driving (50 mi.)

Favorite Features

Radio controls on steering wheel are excellent.
