I purchased a 2008 Milan Premier last year. Traded a great Mercury Sable for the Milan hoping to get better mileage. I really enjoy this car in every way..."except" I am only getting between 17 and 20 mpg in town. Highway is only 21-22 mpg. I have 45,000 miles on the car. From what I have been reading, most Milan owners are doing much better than this. I saw posts that ... Read More

We have a new 2008 Mercury Milan Premier I4 with most every option but navigation. The Milan still looks athletic and elegant. The interior is perhaps a bit plainer than the new Malibu or the 2009 Sonata, but it is functional and comfortable. I'd like to see updates to the interior with fewer cut lines and more elegant door panels, but the exterior is still strikingly good looking for a mid-size ... Read More
Our 2008 Mercury Milan Premier I4 2.3 liter with the 5-speed automatic transmission is brand new (so not broken in) and is doing 27 average on approximately 60% highway/40% city. This is in Phoenix where big wide streets mean "city" is still 35-45 mph except in rush hour traffic (but the lights are long). At 55 mph highway it appears to hit about 32 mpg, but most of the freeways are ... Read More
The product plan just doesn't include new products for Mercury beyond about 2012 from everything I've seen. I'd guess we are relatively loyal Ford buyers, with several new FoMoCo products since graduating from college. More than 2/3s have been a Mercury. Our favorites include a 2002 Mercury Cougar still going strong at 96,000 miles, but with no clear replacement available from Ford. The newest one is a sleek 2008 Mercury Milan. ... Read More
Monday, February 11, 2008 TOM KRISHER / AP Auto Writer SAN FRANCISCO -- Ford Motor Co. executives won't guarantee that the Mercury brand will be around forever, but they told a group of dealers Sunday that new Mercury products are coming. Ford's leaders have said they expect the Lincoln luxury brand to command higher sales volume than Mercury in the future. But some dealers are wary about the company's plan for ... Read More

No cons that you don't already know about. There isn't a lot of difference in the EPA fuel economy (20/28 for the auto, 20/29 for the manual using the 2008 figures) but you could theoretically get better than that if you're careful with the manual.
