2008 Mercury Mariner Premier 4dr SUV (3.0L 6cyl 4A)

Review

i like many others had the problem with the transmisson cooler leak, which was fixed, but now my transmission is out, i have 65,000 miles on my vechicle and had to buy a new transmisson, i was wondering if anyone else had this problem or did i just get the lemon. i havent had any other problems until i noticed the leak, got it fixed immedately then a month later my transmisson started slipping, couldnt believe it, i will never by another FORD again, apparently they dont take pride in their vehicles otherwise why just the 60,000 mile warranty instead of 100,000 like the other competetors. if anyone else has had this problem please let me know, thanks

Suggested Improvements

if you have a crappy product, make the consumer happy and fix it , so you dont get bad press, there is no reason for a 2008, 65,000 mile vehicle to need a new transmisson.

I am on my 2nd transmission failure in 4 years. I have filed with NHTSA and have also began the process with auto BBB. Nidahoal, thanks for providing that phone number. I will certainly call and place my complaint. You are correct, if people get frustrated and do not go beyond calling Ford they will continue to do nothing. When I asked what they would do with my complaint they said they would look into it. I am sure either it is not logged in their system or it is sitting in a dusty file cabinet somewhere. After searching online several people have complained about transmission problems, some even more than once. Yes, please continue to place pressure on them because they definitely placed defective transmission parts in this particular car. I was told my transmission would cost $4062!!! I will never purchase a Ford again after dealing with several service managers and account managers and other customer service. They said they have no knowledge of any problems. They claim they have no way to look into the system to see defects or recalls for a particular car but that they can only look by VIN #. In any case, I will write about this on as many review sites as possile and will provide the 800 number above along with contacting NHTSA and auto BBB. If enough of us complain they will have to issue a recall and will have to reimburse you any money you paid for the repair. Good luck
