2011 Mercury Grand Marquis LS 4dr Sedan (4.6L 8cyl 4A)
Truck frame, truck engine, truck tranny with car body, excellent visibility, reliability and cheap to maintain! Add isolated chamber quiet, wide, safe and easy to find a nice used one and this car could be the sleeper used car find for the wise!
Buy 2003 or newer, run only 5-20 synthetic, replace the LCM lighting control module (see ebay-weak relay) and you have a cheap, reliable upscale ride for $5k+/- that should hold it's value and get you 21 mpg avg for most and late 20s at 70! Easy to find a low miler that been driven by an adult too
Look under the car and you'll be impressed-very robust frame, suspension, etc!
of car for the money and a choice used car !
Quiet, comfort and calm atmosphere! Robust engine, drivetrain and frame! Cheap Ford part, taxis/cop car reliable track record and easy to find nice used one with low miles cheap! Best buy vs high mileage Japanese rig!
Too late, they stop making in 2011! Last body on frame sedan and should make them a little more collectible! Baby boomer mobile!
Note: Find a simple 2003+ GS without the climate control or rear air suspension-both problematic and pass on former cop car/Crown vic or marauders that don't get the mpg and have been beat! Keep air pressure in tires to 35 psi, air filter clean and 5-20 synth oil and she gets 25+ at 70+ mph and about 20 in the city on regular! Oh and don't forget to replace the LCM!
Thanks, picky Engineer that just bought 03 with 61k new tires, battery ,one owner $4k!
for my 16 yo daughter, she loves it, shes' safer and I studied the car to death!
