1997 Grand Marquis engine oil pan replacement, rusted and leaks. This job with 1 person, a strong floor jack, some 2X4s, two jack stands, a creeper and basic tools in a residential garage on a cement floor required 9 hours time. I have some experience but if you have a hoist it can be done quicker. The engine slid backwards and re-aligning the mounts became a time consumer. Maybe leaving the ... Read More

I have read thru another post in this forum about heater and a/c blower motors that stopped working suddenly. I have a similar problem with a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis LSE with climate control (Electronic Automatic Temperature Control or EATC for short). I have checked the obvious including the inside passenger compartment fuses plus the power distribution box underneath the front hood with particular attention to both the blower motor relay ... The above is the title of Technical Service Bulletin 02-2-2 issued by Ford in Feb. 02. on their 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis. Yesterday we paid over $600 to have this problem fixed. My mechanic said he had repaired the same problem on several of these cars and in his professional opinion, Ford should pay for all these. Although the title refers to the intake manifold, it is not a functional part ... Read More

slinger31 thanks for the info. I'm glad it worked out for you. I am waiting for a technical rep to contact me. They keep telling me it's not a safety problem so there is nothing they can do. I would love my money back so I can buy anything but a Ford/Mercury product. It seems my problem isn't from the engine. I've been told it's the new size tires from 1997 ... Read More

Just bought a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis in great shape, and one week later found your chat room with plastic manifold problems being discussed...Does anyone have this car that has not had a cracked intake, and at what miles did the problems occur with those of you who did have the problem? Thought I was getting a reliable car, had researched reliability records, all that I found were no problems with ... Read More

I just looked at a 1997 GM LS with 27,000 miles at a Ford dealership yesterday. The car was impeccable, fully loaded, silver with silver color leather interior, alloy wheels and digital dash. The asking price is $15,900. I have been reading this site for the past month and it seems that everyone has had a great experience with the Grand Marquis or CV. Also, there have been great tips on ... Read More
