Review
I love this vehicle! Also own an '02 C240 & an '06 ML350. This is an all- out luxury people mover! Comfortable and roomy front and 2nd row seating, 3rd row is great too if you're 6ft and under. Performance is very good, and is great if you learn to use the "finger- shifter" on the steering wheel. Very fun to drive short or long distance. Fuel economy is not bad considering it's weight and very quiet smooth ride. At first sight some say "mini-van." This is truly a cross between an SUV and wagon...haven't meet an R-Class owner yet who deems this a "MV." The more you look, the more you like. Interior appointments are that of the ML than say a sedan. Clearly Mercedes built!
Favorite Features
If you have kids or easily bored adults, get the factory installed rear seat entertainment system. Parktronic is a must, this thing is huge! Reliability.
Suggested Improvements
Better interior appoinments, like that of an E-Class. Driving/Fog lights standard.

First 1000 Miles ( True Highway Cruiser)
Vehicle
2006 Mercedes-Benz R-Class R500 4dr Wagon AWD (5.0L 8cyl 7A)
Review
We just completed our first road trip in our new Mercedes R500. Our experience with the vehicle has been outstanding. We traded in a 2004 Acura MDX because we needed more rear seat space and the R500 clearly delivers. It motors the six of us comfortably and safely. We actually went to the dealership to look at the new GL 450 but were impressed with the size and quality of the R500. Our R500 drives and handles solidly and is good in town and on the highway. Since picking up our R500 we have averaged 17.1 mpg in combined driving and got just over 20 mpg on the highway in Sport Mode. We have only seen one other Mercedes R- Class on the road since purchasing ours almost two weeks ago.
Favorite Features
Solid V8 engine, abundant leg room for six adults, Sirius radio, Command Center, dual-mode automatic transmission (Comfort or Sport), uniqueness
Suggested Improvements
Seats could be a little deeper for tall individuals.
Great car- just looks a little different

My husband first saw the car on-line and immediately loved the styling. I wasn't as sold on it as he was but he talked me into taking it for a test drive. I'm glad he did! We love the car and all the room. The kids love it too.
Favorite Features
interior design and spaciousness
Suggested Improvements
The cd changer ate my cds (after only having the car 3 months) so the dealer replaced it. Not sure if this is common or not.

Bought it because looks different than anything on the road. Switched from Infiniti FX which I loved and what a difference in Mercedes. Less sporty, but a lot more stable, user and practical. Always correct people from calling it a minivan as I am too young for one. Mercedes had great deals in May on these because of slow sales and I could not refuse when I got a payment of $20 more vs. FX with less down on a vehicle that cost $61K. Memorial Day weekend took it from SF Bay Area to Southern California and enjoyed the whole ride with airmatic. With speeds over 85 it just glides comparing to my FX where every bump was felt. Panoramic roof is outstanding
Favorite Features
Panoramic roof, airmatic, steering wheel, xenon lights, audio system, interior layout
Suggested Improvements
Joystick on navigation shoud be like in E class, glitches with parktronic, more standard features like auto dimming mirrors and memory seat (60K car), express close roof, black leather finish, sport mode more agressive.

16 Months ago the third child came along! We need a Minivan. I'm not gonna drive it! You gonna drive it? No way! Brought the ML in for scheduled visit and this "Huge Wagon" is sitting in the showroom. Wow!! Some what like a minivan. (Just don't call it one...the sales staff gets offended). It is so car-like you forget you've got the whole family with you!! The girls love to sit in the way back and look for birds and planes! The little man sits high in the second row and sees everything! I love the shift lever simplicity. Dash is elegant yet simple. Nav wonderful. Gas mileage is what I expected. Comfort and quietness among the best. If you can afford it, you cannot beat it!
Favorite Features
Navigation, panoramic roof, seating for six. Exclusivity, I've had it for 3 months and have seen just 2 on the road! Everyone says, "What is that? Hey this is nice"!
Suggested Improvements
Bluetooth (I've gone 40 years with out it, what's another 40). Maybe Voice Command Navigation.

This vehicle is excellent. A great family vehicle without owning another SUV. Has enough room for a family of 6. Quite comfortable for adults as well. I kind of wish I would have gotten the R500 just because of the zip, but once you get going, it is great. I have nothing bad to say about this vehicle.
Favorite Features
Favorite features are the roomy interior, love the front of the vehicle.
Suggested Improvements
Put the lumbar adjustment on the bottom LHS of the seat like the other controls as it is hard to reach. Need more cargo space too.

Excellent ride with better than expected fuel economy. 22Mpg @ 80/85 MPH. Problem is attempting to parallel park. There is no way to see the front end when parking, you just have to guess how close you are to anything that might be in front of you. Difficult to find a vechicle in stock with Parkatronic, unless you want a black interior.
Favorite Features
Plenty of room, especially in second row.
Suggested Improvements
Standard Parkatronic or at least put the raised star at the front of the hood.
The car not enough people know about.

The interior and exterior work well. Seats in the back are awesome for my 2 young children. The ride is as good as any other Mercedes on the market. Could be one of the best all around family automobiles on the road today.
Favorite Features
Best kept secrect on the market. Don't see many on the road. People are not aware of the versitility of this automobile (maybe MB's fault on marketing)
Suggested Improvements
Front end hard to see. Park assist should be standard. No child locks on the back doors (kind of crazy)

For us this car fits well between the 3 row SUVs and the mini vans. We needed separation for my three boys, 4 wheel drive to get up our driveway in winter, and something that was fun to drive and comfortable for me. I only have 1100 miles so far but I like it better than either my ML320 (with third row) or our Volvo Cross country. Much more comfortable, quieter, and a smoother drive.
Favorite Features
Roof, comfortable seats, quiet, smooth, and simple to get everyone on board. ipod integration kit is nice as well.
Suggested Improvements
Shouldn't have gotten black interior with kids and dirt roads. A bit more acceleration would be nice.

I drove our new R350 1000 miles from the dealer in KY. I now know why the car is called a tourer. Quiet, smooth, comfortable - a great ride. It isn't a quick vehicle but has enough power. Nice surprises - the cruise control with two increments (up and down one mile per hour to tune speed) - intermittent wipers - ipod integration kit (though it would be nicer to be able to select a play list from the radio controls) - better gas mileage than I feared (22.5) Little annoyances - should have checked out the Xenon lights because on low beam, they don't have great illumination - black interior (and carpet) shows dirt, dust. Overall very happy with it and family loves the room!
Favorite Features
* quiet - can talk to kids in the way back without yelling. * room and comfort - really comfy * smooth, solid ride - feels like quality * don't look too big or drive like a truck/suv
Suggested Improvements
- ipod integration should allow selection of playlists - don't get black interior (my fault) - better low beam headlights (should have bought Xenon)
