Re: New E320 CDI engine introduced in Europe for 2006 [blissful]
Just various websites like Germancarfans.com, Germancarforums.com and others. Mercedes is very predictable when it comes to when new models and facelifts will appear. Generally they produce a model for 7 years with a facelift coming for year 4 or 5 and generally a new engine only comes during or after a facelift, or in some rare cases they will introduce a new ... Re: New E320 CDI engine introduced in Europe for 2006 [blissful]
Well what they're talking about is an all-new E-Class, yes that will probably arrive in 2009 if Mercedes keep their current 7-year model run schedule. However the E is due for a "facelift" for 2007. New lights, bumpers, new features, engines etc. Nothing major, just a refreshening. M Read More...
Re: New E320 CDI engine introduced in Europe for 2006 [fldick]
Yes, the current I6 diesel is history for the 2007 model year. Mercedes is certifying the new V6 using clean diesel for the 2007 model year. The only question is when, not if. Clean diesel isn't mandatory until Sept 2006, so I'd say at the earliest Nov-Dec 2006 the new V6 CDI models will arrive. These should include a ML320 and R320 CDI also. M Read More...
Diesel's becoming extinct?
Am I the only one who has seen the recent article in Car and Driver magazine by Tony Swan on the Jeep Liberty Diesel? At the end of the article Swan states that new emission regs taking effect in 2007 will eliminate all current diesel passenger cars in the US. Why would Mercedes be investing in a V-6 diesel if this car does not meet future EPA regs? I hope I am missing something ... Read More...
Re: Thanks for MB article post [greenbelt]
U.S. year-to-date sales data indicate that the market here has finally figured out that the MB isn't such a smart buy (or lease) these days. Not really. What they suggest is that the E-Class just got a whole lot of new competition (even some internal competition in the form of the CLS) and the S-Class is in its last model year. If there was this big downturn against ... Read More...
Re: How come no one here talks about the MB E ? [lexusguy]
You're right its been out since 2003 and thus isn't the newest and hottest thing, which is why I think it isn't talked about here. Obviously there is interest outside of Edmund's mesg boards because it sells so well, even in the face of a half-dozen newer entries, impressive imo. True the E doesn't have as many toys as some of the newer entries. I disagree about AWD ... Read More...
Re: V6 Diesel... [cctdi]
The new V6 E320 CDI model will be a 2007 model. I doubt if we'll see a diesel wagon here, and the V8 E420 CDI is even less of a possibility. 4Matic has to wait until the new V6 hits the market because it won't fit with the current I6, so the 2007 model year is the earliest for 4Matic and a diesel. Mercedes is going to time the V6 diesel intro with the wide spread availability ... Read More...
V6 Diesel...
The new V6 is easily the best way to go. Slightly more power and much cleaner, plus its teamed with the new 7-speed tranny. This is a knockout combo in a diesel. Problem is that the new V6 most likely won't show up in any U.S. market Mercedes until the 2007 model year (fall 2006) because the current diesel fuel is too dirty for the advantages of the new V6 to be realized, ... Re: March 2005 sales in the Luxury Sports Sedan class [jrock65]
Those sales numbers are very interesting. There is a lot of talk about the CLS taking E-Class sales on the German car boards eleswhere. Between the CLS and the fact that every other car in the class is newer the E will have a long hard year. In 2004 MB moved 58K Es, I doubt they'll hit 40K this year. Ouch. That 2007 model year facelift can't come soon enough. BMW dropped ... Read More...
E-Class
And actually the E500 will get a new V8 for the 2007 model year, after the new S-Class debuts the new V8s. The E will also get a facelift for 2007, with a full redesign for like 2009/10. It has always seemed to me that Lexus simply doesn't put the effort into the GS like they do the LS, RX and even the ES when it comes to making the GS competitive in its market segment. Actually ...
