By this time next year I think Mercedes will have of course the E320 CDI (that will be this fall), R320, ML320 (October per the 2007 order guide), GL320 (next spring) and a S320 (spring/summer 2007). I can see Audi selling a Q7 and A6 diesel here, maybe even an A4, but BMW I'm not sure about. If BMW brought over their excellent 535d (272hp) they run the risk of making ... Read More...

Well what you listed is pretty much it. The E500 will become the 382hp E550, but the E350 should stay the same. I don't think the new direct-injection 3.5L V6 will make it in time for our 2007 model year cars. Lastly, yes the E320CDI will get the new V6 making 4Matic an option for the first time on a E-Class diesel. There should be some interior tweaks and some updates ... Read More...

There are still relatively few Lexus vehicles when compared to the Germans.. well BMW and Mercedes anyway. Audi currently doesnt have a big lineup, but they've got a huge product assault on the horizon. For 2007, there will be 3 variants of the LS, 4 GS, 1 ES, 4 IS, 1 SC, 1 LX and GX, and 4 RX, making 19 models. By the end of the decade, there will be a hybrid ES, an IS convertible, ... Mercedes has solved the problems with trying to fit 4Matic with a diesel by adopting the V convfiguration. The new 3.0L V6 CDI engine is actually a little more powerful than the current I6. The new V6 will be fitted to the 2007 E320/R320/ML320 and eventually GL320 starting this fall. There is also a new (well revised) V8 CDI in Europe also. It is a 4.0L with 311hp. ... Read More...

The E-Class will undergo the usual Mercedes-Benz, mid-cycle facelift for the 2007 model year. The E320 CDI will get the new Bluetec V6, replacing the old I6. The E500 will get the new 5.5L (382hp) V8 from the S550, therefore becoming the E550. More importantly the SBC (electro-brakes) will be dropped in favor of traditional brakes. I am glad you got the same feeling as I do toward the E320 CDI, a really good car indeed. I am just a diesel nut, I just don’t know what I would react if the E400 or E420 CDI do come to this shore in the near future. Well neither car is going to see the reliability charts afire. The real question is whether or not you want the V8 in the A6 or a V6 in the E350, IMO. I personally would go with the A6 4.2 only because the E-Class is due for a facelift for 2007. M Read More...
