Bad luck today. Somebody backed into my 2002 C-240 in a parking lot. The hit blew out the entire right rear lens assembly. Because honor is dead, the person who hit me did not leave a note or wait around to admit fault. So now I must figure a way to repair the car. Our 2002 C320 was a nightmare. Numerous problems including false sensor readings, memory features not working, brakes, horrible transmission, noise problems and loose seats. Anyone have an opinion on this situation. I purchased by C230 on April 3, 2002. For the first few weeks the car was wonderful. Then the trouble began. In the course of the next 10 months, the following defects occurred: 1) The rear seat cushion was defective and had a large bump in it. Well, what did the 2001 C 240 Auto sell for in the fall of 2000 or early 2001? I would think around $32K US or so, right? So at a retail price of $25.5 K, that's a loss of a bit less than 1/4 of the car's value over a two year, 24,000 mile period. That's pretty damned low depreciation in my book. Nice review. Well we have a 2002 C 230 Kompressor with the 6 speed. The car has the regular 16 inch wheels, hence does not have the so-called "short-shift" kit fitted to the Evolution (C7 in USA) Sportcoupés. Our car's shifter is VERY nice, precise, clean movements. The clutch takes up near the middle of the travel and is beautifully weighted. We never feel the slightest ... Read More...

We haven't thrown in the towel yet..just expected more quality from a $41,000+ car. I speak with other new Mercedes owners an they too have these problems. Wish MB would listen more. For now I would not buy another. Return buyers are the heart of a franchise. Perhaps time might change my mind. Read More...

I have @11k miles on my C320 wagon and I have had significant quality issues that has surprised me. I bought the car for the quality reputaion, I thought anyway. 1st I was astonished when the first day the car sputtered and then the main computer module went out and the car stalled.
