I commute 125 miles a day and this is a cruiser that gets 37 mpg. It is the perfect size and is safe, quiet. I purchased with 169,000 miles on it and have only done routine oil changes every 5k miles. It looks brand new.

1993 Mercedes-Benz 300-Class 4 Dr 300TE Wagon
Review
I owned a 1993 300TE for three years and really enjoyed the vehicle. Functional, comfortable, safe and decent mileage for such a large rig. Look for the safety net option when shopping for used models. Cost was $1100 when new and it is a great additional safety feature.
Favorite Features
Seats 8, safe, quiet, good mileage and really comfortable on long drives.

1993 Mercedes-Benz 300-Class 4 Dr 300E 2.8 Sedan
Review
Well I have owned my 1993 Mercedes-Benz E300 for 5 years now. I have averaged $2,200 a year in repairs. This has been the most expensive, most unreliable car that I have ever owned. I have a similar year Lexus GS300 and it is no contest. The Lexus averages less then $200 a year in repairs. Guess which car I would buy again. The Mercedes' interior is poorly designed. For example it has no glove box, no cup holder, and the most poorly designed HVAC system. How could this car be approved for production? It also has terrible quality, a poor on board computer. This is my first and last Mercedes-Benz.
Favorite Features
The seats.
Suggested Improvements
Why bother, they clearly they do not listen to consumers

1993 Mercedes Benz 300TE 4 Matic
Vehicle
1993 Mercedes-Benz 300-Class 4 Dr 300TE 4matic 4WD Wagon
Review
This is one of Mercedes finest works. The 1993 Mercedes Benz 300TE 4 Matic. It comes with a 3.0 liter 217 horsepower V6 engine. Mine features Leather, Sunroof, 3rd row, cell phone, power seats and much more. The acceleration is very good. I calculated that going to 60 took 8.2 seconds. (I was manually shifting with the "2,3,D.") Another feature is the roomy truck and the fold down 3rd row seat which is very convienent.
Favorite Features
Leather seats are very comfy Sunroof is fairly large Good stereo 3rd row seat is very handy Fold down 2nd row is great to use
Suggested Improvements
I think that it should have a computer that tells you not only the temperature and the time but your average miles per gallon, range, and things like that, as featured in my 1987 BMW 325i.

Continuous Engine repairs
Vehicle
1993 Mercedes-Benz 300-Class 4 Dr 300E Sedan
Review
I like driving the car. But... things continually keep breaking in the engine department. I spend about $2,500 per year paying to fix things that broke. E.g., last summer new throttle actuator, $2,000. The repair bills take the fun out of owning this car. I will never buy MBenz again.
Favorite Features
Nice to drive when it drives.
Suggested Improvements
Improve quality and reliability.

Nearly Perfect Car in Every Way
Vehicle
1993 Mercedes-Benz 300-Class 4 Dr 300E Sedan
Review
A nearly perfect car with a great engine, timeless exterior styling, and a high-quality interior. As this model year 300E was mis-badged, it is undervalued. 1994 and 1995 were badged as an E320 which is what this car should've been called. There is a big difference between 1986-1992 300E's and 1993-1995 300E (3.2) / E320's because of the engine difference and nobody seems to know that this one year has the new 3.2 liter engine. As a member of two Mercedes Benz Clubs, it is not unusual to find similar cars with 200,000 to 400,000 miles on them, and still look and drive like new.
Favorite Features
This is the first year of the 3.2 liter engine, also used in 94-97 E320's and 92-99 S320'a. Styling is timeless, and a used '93 300E (3.2) is cheaper than a similar year Camry or Accord. Also uses the new a/c refrigerant (R134a), so replacement cost of the freon would be cheap.
Suggested Improvements
No cupholder. No glove box due to passenger side airbag. Armrest has a flip up lid for storage. Engine wiring harnesses in '93-'95 300E / E320's are badinsul, causing many problems ($500 part). Original head gaskets were bad - new gaskets don't leak oil ($1,000).

One of mercedes' best!!!
Vehicle
1993 Mercedes-Benz 300-Class 4 Dr 300SE Sedan
Review
I purchased a well cared for 1993 300se from a local "high-end" dealer. The key to having a good experience with these cars is making sure that all service and mantainence has been completed on the deal. Have a local "expert" do an inspection including a leak down test and you'll be fine. The car is one of the best ever to be produced by mercedes. Just wished the soft closing door feature worked all the time without having to disconnect the battery! aargh! The use of 100 octane fuel also helps with the fuel economy- currently getting an astounding 26mpg in the mountains of colorado!
Favorite Features
Excellent interior appointments. Great seat adjustments and plenty of storage for golf clubs and a keg o beer! The bose system is ok as long as the crossovers hold up- common problem that they don't.
Suggested Improvements
could have benefited from a better transmission that wasn't vaccume regulated.

Review
I have had no problems with this car. Other than the regular oil changes and tuneups there is nothing else this car needs. I could not be happier I love my car.
Favorite Features
Where do I begin inside and out it is a classy looking car. But I guess its best feature is the way it handles. It feels as though you are driving on a cloud.
Suggested Improvements
If buying this year check to ensure the Ac was fixed mercedes had some issue with this models AC units.

I Bought an Unloved Example
Vehicle
1993 Mercedes-Benz 300-Class 4 Dr 300SE Sedan
Review
Extreamly well made and solid car. The suspension soaks up every bump and the double glazing helps to make it very quite. Build quality in the cabin is excellent - no squeaks or rattles whatsoever. Unfortunately I bought one that turned out to have been unloved and it cost a lot of money to put right. Head gasket replaced, gearbox overhauled, water pump and tappets replaced, brake disks and drop-link arms on the suspension replaced, CD autochanger replaced - the list goes on and on. But I have now a brillant car with all the major bits fixed (I hope)! If you can get one that has been serviced correctly then this must be the best car in the world!
Favorite Features
Great suspension - soft on the bumps yet allows the car to handle the bends as if it were much smaller and lighter.
Suggested Improvements
No air con in my car - this is a must! Make sure you also get leather and auto transmission for resale value.
