Maintenance
Vehicle
1993 Mercedes-Benz 300-Class 4 Dr 300SE Sedan
Review
One of the finest marques produced. Maintenance is high, which is the only concern. If you're lucky enough to find one that had all the major components repaired, mileage should not be a concern. The inline 6 cylinder design should last for hundreds of thousands of miles, providing you change the oil at regulasr intervals. It's the other maintenance concerns that can run up a tidy bill. AC, transmission, etc. Other than that. A fantastic automobile. The ride is great, and the fit and finish is second to none.
Favorite Features
The dash controls,ride, overall appearance.

Like Mercedes, But Reliability's Poor
Vehicle
1993 Mercedes-Benz 300-Class 4 Dr 300E 2.8 Sedan
Review
This is my third Mercedes and all have been unreliable and expensive to repair. Nonetheless, I like the ride/suspension, drive/steering, seats, solid feel, and crash safety design of Mercedes Benz. Problems on this car have included failed fuel pump commutator, leaking head gasket, failed interior temperature sensor, failed transmission (had it rebuilt), wheel started siezing on suspension arm (had it replaced), and other minor problems. But, I would buy another [used] Mercedes Benz (after checking consumer rating sources for my particular model of interest). My car has 131,000 miles.
Favorite Features
Ride, drive, seats, solid feel, and vehicle safety.
Suggested Improvements
Mercedes Benz should try to achieve the reliability level of Lexus/Toyota (hope springs eternal). Free loaner cars should be provided at all dealers, even if car was not purchased at that dealer (especially considering the high service and repair costs [parts and labor]).

Glued to this car
Vehicle
1993 Mercedes-Benz 300-Class 4 Dr 300E Sedan
Review
After putting almost half a million miles on it, it's still going strong. If you ever needed a reliable car, this is ultimate reliability. Although minor problems do occur, other than that, it's a bad horse which takes beating. Poor mid-range torque but has good high end torque. Changed to a walnut sports steering wheel, added K&N filter, sports muffler, 245/35 R18 wheels. Superb handling and a better mileage. Drove a BMW 540i but my 300E has better handling anytime. Awesome grip.
Favorite Features
Handling. Definately handling! Plus grip, grip and more grip.
Suggested Improvements
A better distributer cap and a more reliable power seat. Auto cruise improvement - not user friendly.

I recently purchased this very neat auto and before I could learn about it the rear head rest roll over prtection deployed while sitting in my driveway. This caused the covertible top to stop working but worst part to repair the roll over feature cost will be in excess of $5000.00. any of you old pro's out there have any comments??? thank you, monntana

San Francisco to Mexico in 6 hrs. Average speed about 110mph. Average Mpg on my trip 23.5. Very stable, even in unexpected curves at 120mph. Radar detector not included, but should be!!

Speed limiter should be higher than 125mph. They sell the aftermarket chip but it is pricey

The Rear Shadesceen is an awesome feature. I also love the head rests in the back, how they retract for increased visibility.

Much better costs for repairs. I had to put a new headgasket in and it cost me over one thousand dollars.
