2004 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class Convertible SLK230 Kompressor 2dr Roadster (2.3L 4cyl S/C 6M)

Review

SLK 230 Kompressor Sport: This car is
very impressive! There are so many
things to comment about how this car
performs and handles, but all you have
to say is, it's a Mercedes. The best
thing about this roadster is how it
tightens the faster you go. Snow and
rain performance is good considering
it's rear wheel driven but you must
have the good tires. The trunk size is
excellent when the top is up, but watch
out when it's down! It's like going
from a full size suitcase down to a
large briefcase. I was crossed between
the S2000 and this car, but once I
looked at all the SLK interior features
& hard top, the decision was easy.

Best Features

The hard top. This roadster is an attention getter.

Worst Features

SL styled stereo system hooked up with all the bells and whistles - GPS, DVD, etc.

2004 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class Convertible SLK320 2dr Roadster (3.2L 6cyl 6M)

Review

Tremendously fun ride; excellent
acceleration; very sporty; affordable
yet just pricy enough that you don't
find yourself passing "your" car much,
if at all, while driving down the
highway. The only pitful of ownership
is getting tired of saying "Thank you!"
from the numerous,every day compliments
while out in public!

Best Features

The automatic folding roof-to-trunk feature is clever and handy. The "touch shift" transmission is outstanding and fun.

Worst Features

Needs slightly more space between the gear shift (when in "Park" only) and the storage compartment on the lower dashboard.

2004 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class Convertible SLK320 2dr Roadster (3.2L 6cyl 6M)

Review

I just bought it in October so now that
winter has come to NY, I have tucked it
away in the carriage barn. Come spring
I will drop the top and put on my Ray
Bans. But seriously, buying this car
was a good decision and Mercedes Benz
makes wonderful cars! I opted to buy
this car with standard transmission
because if you are going to own a car
like this shifting through the gears
just adds to the driving pleasure. I
highly recommend this car to anyone who
is looking for the joy of owning and
driving a beautiful convertible sports
car.

Best Features

The retractable hard top. Also the 6 speed manual transmission!

Worst Features

Please don't change a thing.

2004 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class Convertible SLK320 2dr Roadster (3.2L 6cyl 6M)

Review

I bought the loaded 6-cyl model when it
first came out in August 2000. My wife
and I have driven it in all kinds of
good and bad weather (just make sure to
use HR-rated snow tires in the winter
though), have experienced the
incredible safety features (avoided
hitting a deer with complete control
the first trip out of town), and it
still garners compliments from people
of all age groups, who genuinely enjoy
looking at the car! Excellent service,
routine maintenace, solid
coupe/convertible for two. Having owned
several Bimmers, a Porsche, Acuras and
others, the SLK is proving to be the
best ever! Outstanding value.

Best Features

Power hardtop; traction control in slippery conditions; economy and response of the six-cylinder powerplant and beautifully mated 6-spd manu-auto); efficiency of design; utter quietness with hardtop up, and well managed wind noise at highway cruising speeds.

Worst Features

The exhaust system could be a bit quieter - the sporty sound is too agressive for my wife as it alarms her during spirited driving!
