It's been a great car for commuting on city streets
in Houston, where the weather is warm and the top
can stay down most of the year. Lots of torque for
accelerating from stop lights. Decent gas mileage.
It's also surprisingly good on long roads trips.
Adequate trunk, unlike any of its competitors.
Quiet, and a pleasant cruiser. Phenomenally solid
and secure at 140mph! ;-)
The 30 or so improvements made starting with the
2001 model year made the SLK a much better car.
Don't buy an older one!
Retro-look non-wood interior. 5 spd touchshift
automatic just as fun as a manual. Maneuverability.
It's not a sports car; the steering really holds it
back. Interior paint chips off of door handles and
console too easily.
