I have never owned a Mercedes before (Toyota, Honda and Acura) and was frankly a little skeptical that the three pointed start was really worth the premium. At any rate, while on the lot looking at another vehicle we saw the SLK and decided to take it for a spin, just for a lark. Wow! A warm summer afternoon - a twisty road by the water's edge - brilliant blue skies - let's just say we never really had a chance! It was love at first drive. 2 months later we are still blissing out each time we take it for a drive.
The hard top (roof slashing theives need not apply). The jaw-dropping roof mechanism (and the point-and-stare reactions when it is in action). The surprisingly spacious trunk. The ride (sporting but never jarring).
Can't change CDs in the trunk-mounted CD changer when the top is down. A bit more room to 'play' before the stability protection kicks in (a very minor gripe).
