    The sales comparisons for the monthly data are year-over-year. Lexus LS sales for November 2006 increased by 116.3% compared to November 2005 and Mercedes S-Class sales for November 2006 increased by nearly 100% compared to November 2005.

    Here is a list of the least reliable luxury autos ?(there are no MBs, BMWs, Audis or Porsches on the list) Here's a more world reliability view. Good results for Porsche, Jag, and BMW, and pretty good for Audi. Still very poor for Mercedes. Only the French cars and Fiat were worse.     Nvbanker, You basically summarized my Lexus experience. My 2002 LS430 had the same steering issue and had the rain sensor replaced three times. My 1998 LS400 suffered from electronic gremlins that caused it to stall and the cluster to flicker. The 2005 was mechanically sound but suffered from the worst paint I've seen in a long time.     Sales of the BMW 7 series increased 23.3% since January 2005. On the other hand, sales of the Mercedes Benz S-Class decreased 13.3% since January 2005. As a side note, sales of the E60 were up a whopping 42.8% since January 2005! The BMW success story continues to unfold, thanks in no small part to Chris Bangle and his amazing designs.

    The 1998-2005 GS was an experimental entry to a new segment for Lexus. The car certainly did better than R-class upon introduction.
