2004 Mercedes-Benz S-Class S500 4MATIC AWD 4dr Sedan (5.0L 8cyl 5A)

Review

excessive wind noise at 60mph, tyre noise at 70mph. Dealer & MBUSA says the car comes like that. probably design fault. Dealer says all S500 sound like that. Recommend test drive Audi A8L and BMW b4 purchasing MB S500. cannot compare to Audi A8L which is silent at any speed. cruise control stalk gets in the way. steering buttons annoying. soft front seats with poor support.

Favorite Features

view from cockpit, hydraulic doors, AWD, engine power

Suggested Improvements

re-design interior and improve sound deading material. better seats

2004 Mercedes-Benz S-Class S500 Rwd 4dr Sedan (5.0L 8cyl 7A)

Review

This car replaced identical 2000 S Class which had numerous electrical and computer problems. New model is free from these glitches. Never had mechanical problem with Mercedes. Enjoy the quality of the burl walnut and interior appointments. New features that I like are the power trunk, keyless go start on the shift knob, voice control on nearly everything, power curtains, digital readout of tire pressures and a much improved navigational system on DVD. Car remains very responsive with sharp turning radius. I don't need AMG assist for my driving. It appears to me M-B has given us many innovations that are quickly copied by other manufactures.

Favorite Features

Lighted Mercedes Benz name on door entry sill. No key entry and start system. Power assist door closure. Power assist brakes and other numerous safety features leaving you with the impression this is one safe car.

Suggested Improvements

Time for a face lift. Would recommend a slightly bigger body for the S Class with improved trunk space. Needs one single touch(not continous pressure as now required) to adjust seat position. Leather could still be softer. Front drinking cup holders are still atrocious.

Review

Have owned Lex-Porch-Ferr- This autio superior to all of those mentioned. The command center is fairly complicated and the location of the window controls is not conveniently located. The respnse to throttle is breathtaking. Please don't floor pedal if you are not ready .

Suggested Improvements

better location of window controls

2004 Mercedes-Benz S-Class S500 Rwd 4dr Sedan (5.0L 8cyl 7A)

Review

Love the car. More money than competitors but love it. Power does not stop. Luxury options for days. Body style is the best on the road. Nothing beats black even though I got pewter.

Favorite Features

Voice command, heated/cooled/massage seats. automatic trunk close. And the power!

Suggested Improvements

Navigation needs improvment and easier to use maybe touch screen and only one DVD not regional CD. Cameras in rear for backing up.

2004 Mercedes-Benz S-Class S55 AMG 4dr Sedan (5.4L 8cyl S/C 5A)

Review

I wrote a review 2 1/2weeks ago. Please revise. When you accelerate from stop you can hear a ping noise coming from the transmission. Two months ago the service dept. at Orland Mercedes corrected the problem for 6 weeks. Then the noise was audible again. When the car was returned for the same ping noise, I was informed that Mercedes declared the noise will not harm anything and it is acceptable. They were aware of the ping noise that was reported to them by others. I drove a new 2004 And no noise. For these 2 reasons: a) the mechanic corrected the noise for 6 weeks and b) the noise is on "some" other S55's. There must be a major defect somewhere.

Favorite Features

Telephone--power that's frightening-- keyless touch and go and start feature

Suggested Improvements

satellite music AND NO PING NOISE
