2002 Mercedes-Benz S-Class S430 4dr Sedan (4.3L 8cyl 5A)

Review

Made a deposit on BMW 745Li over one year ago. When the new BMW came out I was very impressed with acceleration, handling, and braking, but interior weirdness and exterior styling turned me off so that I passed on my custom ordered car when it arrived. I've bought four BMW's in the past. Tried Lexus and Mercedes. Bought the Mercedes and love it so far. BMW could have had a great, no wonderful, car but somone overdosed on caffeine when they designed the exterior and the truly crazy overengineered controls. Delighted with the Mercedes.

Best Features

Exterior and interior styling. Cooled and heated seats with massage. Auto close doors and trunk (standard not an option). Voice control. Long wheel base (again, standard not optional). Mercedes service.

Worst Features

CD changer in the dash. DVD based navigation system. Everything else is near perfect.

2002 Mercedes-Benz S-Class S430 4dr Sedan (4.3L 8cyl 5A)

Review

NICELY PACKAGED WITH QUALITY THROUGH OUT. EXCELLENT ACCELERATION, RIDE AND ROOM. KEYLESS GO, AUTOMATIC HEAD LIGHTS, AND LIKE FEATURES MAKE THIS CAR EASY TO USE AND DRIVE.

Best Features

KEYLESS GO OPTION IS EXCELLENT. NO KEY REQUIRED- TOUCH THE DOOR HANDLE AND THE DOORS OPEN AND HIT THE TOP OF SHIFT AND THE CAR STARTS. IF YOU CARRY A BRIEFCASE IT IS A SIGNIFICANT CONVIENENCE.

Worst Features

THE DISPLAY IS DIFFICULT TO USE

2002 Mercedes-Benz S-Class S500 4dr Sedan (5.0L 8cyl 5A)

Review

Definitally wait for next years (2003 S500). They are going to redesign the horrible COMMAND system, and upgrade the materials in the cabin. There are too many flimbsy plastics for a car like a S500. Power is pretty comparable to an LS430 or Q45.

Best Features

I really like the door handles on the car and the wood steering wheel/shift knob.

Worst Features

make CD-player standard

2002 Mercedes-Benz S-Class S430 4dr Sedan (4.3L 8cyl 5A)

Review

Beautiful, well designed, comfortable automobile. Elegant, yet a great piece of machinery.

Best Features

Many well thought through touches. But also needs something one might expect.

Worst Features

Needs an in-dash CD player/changer. Better (bigger/adjustable) cup holders, better security system (glass break).

Review

This car is really scary and annoying. The cupholders work when it feels like working; sometimes it jams. Also, the designers did a lousy job designing the cupholders and seats. The passenger front doesn't have an armrest because the cupholder is there. and, the seats are so big that i tend to slide from side to side while changing lanes on the freeway. The COMMAND system is really disapointing, compared to ones on Acura, Infiniti, Lexus, even Honda and Toyota (all these cars are CHEAPER), and all offer touch screen capability, and most with DVD based GPS systems. The value on this car is really disapointing. Overall, I am not pleased with the car.

Best Features

Rear legroom.

Worst Features

This car has a blind spot. When looking on the rear-view mirrors, you can't see past the rear door handles because either the car is way too long and because the end tapers inward. Really dangerous.
