Hi There, I'm curious, what prompted the steering column replacement? I have a 2006 R350 and I'm starting to get a clicking and thumping that I can feel under the front floorboards when I make a turn. I'm trying to pinpoint the issue before taking it to my MB dealer. I'm glad I took out an extended warranty, I'm having lots of problems (I'm happy to post the list of issues ... Read More
The best to fix it is REPLACING THE CAR!!! I changed it last November for a 2011 GLK350 Fantastic Ride and build like a tank, proudly made in Germany! absolutely no problem whatsoever. I lost money on the R350, they updated the software, and some other things but they could NEVER pinpoint the random shifting problems and shake ups. This adds up to alternator problems, early serpentine failure, battery failures, the ... Read More
Well, before ANYONE buys a Mercedes, let me tell you about my recent experience with a warranty issue I had with my 2006 Mercedes R350. I needed a replacement control module which was caused by a blocked a/c tube that subsequently leaked on it, causing it to short. There was a service bulletin on this very problem issued to all MB dealerships. This absolutely should have been covered under warranty but ... Read More
Hi, I just finalized the price for 2009, R350 with P1, Panoramic sunroof, heated seats for 44K, do you think it is great price? I am still negotiating with other deals. It looks like mercedes just offer 10K off on this model. hope this helps.
Page back a bit, and I think you'll see where Mercedes Financial was selling R350s to their lessees for $23K-$27K.. For a CPO from a dealer, you'll probably have to add $4K-$5K to that, to make a deal... Or, get the current auction value in Real-World Trade-In Values
I have recently re-leased a 2006 r350 and have a knocking in my front suspension as well as feathering on my front tires. I have had the same knocking on my last 3 mercedes E260 and a E420 and a C240 wagon. I finaly found the problem on my C class, and it turned out to be the front top shock support that had failed, this probably took me 1 year ... Read More
I'm from Australia and this is my first post - I have a 2006 R350 which I purchased 7 months ago from a Mercedes Benz dealer. It is a 6 seater with "touring pack" which means that it has the removable console in between the 2nd row seats. I love the car, it has a couple of very annoying electrical bugs - thankfully not the battery draining issues that I have ... Read More

My wife drives a 2006 R500 and I have noticed that it "spits" and "hisses" from the right front corner- some sort of air suspension relief valve or something. I was told by a technician at my local dealer that this is normal and I have a tough time believing this. anyone have any experience with this?
I think your numbers might be a bit optimistic. Back in October, 2006, Mercedes was offering $10,000 marketing incentives, and the dealers were willing to go about $16,000 under MSRP, not invoice. Of course, the vehicles are still not moving (witness the demise of the R500), and you might succeed. Please post your findings when you are finished negotiating. These forums are a great source of info for buyers and have ... Read More
First let me say thank you to all of the hosts and readers/contributors - this forum/board is a great source of information for so many things automotive!! We drove off with an R sporting ... Read More
I have a 2006 R500 that I internet shopped in the L.A. area. I got a local San Diego dealer to match. I would try that first. Press Release Mercedes sold 248,080 vehicles in 2006 including 146 Maybachs. Surprisingly with all the new models compared to Dec 2005 sales were down 10 percent on a month vs. month basic for Dec. M
There were similar Mercedes incentive lease specials on 2006 R350's this past summer and fall, and virtually every dealer was beating those deals significantly (roughly $100/month less than the Mercedes national advertised rate at the time). What discount from MSRP is the current Christmas lease special based upon? Others are reporting $4000 to $6000 off MSRP. I know the MF is unbeatable (almost unbelievable) at .00085.
I see according to Edmunds that Mercedes is offering ten grand cash to dealers on the 2006 R Class, as well as 4.9 financing for as much as 66 months. Is there any difference between the 2006 and 2007 models? Any major mechanical mods or improvments? Any reason to go for a 2007 instead of the 2006?
It looks like you are getting about $5800 off MSRP. At this point in the model run, I think that is about as good as you are going to find. Apparently, MB has a 5.5% "Dealer Holdback" on these vehicles, giving the dealers only about another $3600 to play with beyond invoice. If you are not in a big hurry, you might want to wait for Mercedes Winter Sales Event which ... Read More

First, the real deal on these Mercedes R Class vehicles is the 2006 vintage. With up to $16,500 off MSRP on these cars, you are getting pre-refunded about 25% out of the 35% depreciation part of your lease (based on 15,000 miles/yr.), leaving you to only pay for about 10% of the MSRP in depreciation. Even with the money factor at .00400, that break on the depreciation component of your lease ... Read More
Below is my draft of the letter to my MB dealer as I return my R500 with "issues." YOu should know, I bought this vehicle in early Spring, drove it under a thousand miles, and wrecked it. Welcome to the peculiar world of leasing! Because MB is offering such significant discounts from MSRP on the 2006 R class vehicles, a large proportion of your depreciation cost is taken away. You are most likely getting about $12,000 from MSRP on the R350 (about 20%), so MB is already absorbing about 20% of your "residual" cost. At a residual of 68%, you are only paying about 12% of the MSRP ... Read More
Don't feel bad about acting prior to now on your R class. I have run the numbers, and the changes in factory to dealer cash have been just about entirely offset by changes in the Money Factor and the residuals. As a brief recap, through 7/31/06, factory to dealer cash was $5000, residual was 71% (27month/12,000miles - the sweet spot), and money factor was .00285 (.00175 single pay). After 8/03/06, factory ... Read More
Check with the internet department at W.I. Simonson in Santa Monica. They are offering $16,250 off all remaining R500's, they charge $795 for Mercedes Lease Inception fee, the MF is .0040, and the representative is extremely pleasant to deal with!!
The $10,000 factory to dealer cash is posted on the Edmunds.com New cars/incentives and rebates section. I could not believe it myself! I guess I should have had the patience to wait out their 2006 inventory. They are still offering reduced interest rates on purchases, but there are no posted incentive leasing programs. When Mercedes increased the factory to dealer cash from $5000 to $7000, they dropped the residual from 4%, ... Read More

First, the "perfect storm" lease situation that we have applies largely to the 2006 models. What I mean is that because of the huge discounts from MSRP, the "selling" price of your vehicle will be about 22% to 23% less than MSRP. That is to say that your original "selling" price is already a "residual value" of 77%. In 27 months, Mercedes would like to delude themselves into believing the vehicle ... Read More
5.5% of holdback is from MSRP and giving away to the customer 4.5% is very real. I just received an email from Santa Monica W.I. 1. I do not have a feel yet for the pricing on the 2007's. The Mercedes sponsored leasing program suggests a selling price of $47,160.59 based on an MSRP of $48,700 for the 2007 R350 27 month lease, but suggest a selling price of $45,494 on a $54,175 2006 R350 (about $9700 off MSRP)which is still about $2000 to $3000 higher than what dealers are really letting the vehicles go for. ... I have learned more on leasing on this car than my previous 6 leases (3 mercedes, 2 bmw's, and a land rover). This may be a long post! The basics of leasing are this: You are only paying for how much the car depreciates during your lease term (affected by the number of miles you drive) and the interest rate (money factor) on your "loan." What determines the depreciation cost is ... Read More

You have hit the nail on the head (twice!). First, the best possible lease is one based on a low interest rate (no surprise there) AND a highly discounted purchase price (no surprise there) plus a HIGH MSRP (upon which the residual value is based - maybe a bit of surprise there). Since your lease expense is largely the sum of the "depreciation" (the difference between the MSRP and the "residual" ... Read More

Check this Forum section: Mercedes R Class: Lease Questions. I think your quote is approaching a full MSRP price on the vehicle with no discount at all. Dealers must be giving away 06' E-Classes ahead of the new 07' model arriving at the end of June. Well there a couple of Benz salespeople that chime in on the R-Class board from time to time that have hinted that a major re-shuffle of the R-Class' standard/optional equipment is on tap for the 2007 model year. Correct on all counts. Going to be a long year for the C-Class. The only thing that will save it from falling complete off the charts is that it finally has some great engines that are competitive with the class. Up next SL (facelift already been shown), E-Class facelift and the CL. All of these should be on the stand at Geneva the first week of March. M
2005 was the tough year. The S has arrived to help out in 06. I predict Mercedes will have its 13th consecutive sales increase this year: something in the order of 240,000+ units. The facelifted E only needs to gain a bit of traction to beat 2005 totals. The C is the weak link in the chain for the next two years.
Sales are in for the U.S. for 2005 - 224,421 units, up 1.3% vs 2004. 2005 MBUSA Sales All the work was done by the ML, CLS and SLK. C-Class did post the highest sales month on record for Dec 2005. Well 2006 will be the year to watch as far as Mercedes goes. This new S-Class must fly high. It would be a great moral booster and to mention a profit maker. So far the only recent launch that hasn't gone to well is the R-Class. The ML, SLK, and CLS have all done very well. M
Well the CLS500 will most definitiely become the CLS550 for the 2007 model year. Since the S is the first to have this new engine I would exepect than any CLS models ordered past Feb-March 2006 will be the a 2007 model, just a guess. M
Ok, I'll bite. What's up with the 2.5L, 200HP C230? Why isn't it the C250? Are they trying to be like Lexus with a 2.5? Nothing to do with Lexus.
