The navigation system we paid $1200 for (or more precisely, got robbed for)—it is a piece of junk, worst GPS we ever used and we have used quite a few different brands and models. This is simply the worse than the worst. The interface is extremely clumsy and slow to use, the features are limited, some address cannot be found, wrong routes, etc.
The traffic update (TMC) is a joke since you have to manually check the text messages for each road on the list. At 8 time price of a touch screen Garmin 1450 with Life Time Map and Traffic update we got 1/8 of the features, functionalities, accuracy and quality.
By all means this is not a bad car—it will go from point A to point B without a problem.
However, given the price one would expect a little more besides the three pointed star. More sensible layout in space and some controls, leather upholstery, 1-2 inch wider in interior width and 2 more inches of leg room would actually make it much more likeable. But again, if that happens who would buy the more expensively priced ML? So, Mercedes probably won’t go that direction any time soon.
Like one reviewer adequately put this car is for people “…may need to downsize your wallet but not your status.”
The car seems to target small framed female drivers. The parking brake pedal is puzzlingly small and close to the size only a smaller woman foot or a man wearing pointed shoes can accurately and comfortably step on it. The cup holders are right in front of central armrest Maybe a European size coffee cup would be okay but anything large than that, like a typical large size soda will get annoyingly in the way of your right forearm you try to put your hand on the shift knob and change gears. With raised door sills it is more difficult to get in and out—this is expected, however, the back passenger doors and seats are designed in such a way it ridiculously uncomfortable to get in and out.
