What our ratings include

Performance
The transmission is slow to initiate and complete shifts, but there are shift paddles for more direct control. Horsepower is modest and there is AWD, yet acceleration isn't too shabby with a 0-60-mph time of 7.4 seconds.
Driving Dynamics
Slow steering ratio with little feel build-up and overboosted assist. The stability control is never fully disabled, and though it intrudes on limit handling, this is really no problem for this big family wagon.
Ride Comfort
The ride is generally soft and comfortable, with a hint of wallow from time to time.
Quietness
Very quiet with respect to wind, road and engine noise.
Ergonomics
Controls are generally easy to understand and operate. But some radio and navigation functions controlled by the COMAND knob are challenging.
Visibility
Good front and rear visibility, especially when compared to some medium and large SUVs.
Seat Access & Space
The front seating is comfortable and spacious. The rear seat is sized for two adults, will accommodate three in a pinch, and has a surprising amount of headroom.
Cargo & Storage
There isn't much storage space in the front-passenger compartment, but there is more than enough luggage space. Still, many SUVs will carry more for the same sticker price or less.
Build Quality
Tight build with almost all quality materials, except for a few interior plastics.
