I was in the car business just before retiring a couple of years ago as a manager of a high end new car dealership. In fact, I just helped lawcar with the purchase of his new E350 sport sedan, a vehicle I also just bought in October when the new 2012's hit the showrooms. I can't agree more with your comments about Mercedes back in the early 2000's - more problems ... Read More
Yes, I agree completely with your criticism. BMW has had this feature on their 5 series cars since 2007 - I had a 2006 and when I got my 2007, it had become a standard feature on the 535i. The only time I miss that feature is when I have to take the Mercedes in for a car wash at a carwash. That is a rarity since my Mercedes dealer in ... Read More
If car will be titled in your name, and you are merely reimbursed by the company, then I would definitely buy this vehicle for the reasons I gave you previously. Think about it - your company is paying for the equity YOU will earn over the equivalent 36 month lease. Hi to all - I'm back after 4 years away from Mercedes - I've owned a 2006 Black E350 and a 2006 Dark Silver CL500. I really enjoyed both cars and put on 55,000 on the 06 E350 and about 15,000 on the CL500. I went through some tough times but I'm back and 2 weeks ago I purchased a certified 2010 E350 sport with 21,000 miles for $38,900. It's a ... Read More

Congratulations on your 2011 Mercedes. Thank you for your advice. I will buy the 2007 E Class instead of the 2006.
I purchase a new Mercedes E350 Sport every year from the same dealer. I am treated like a "king", for obvious reasons, but I received the best pricing on a new Benz from this dealership. Usually, I end up well below invoice due to incentives, etc., and the fact that my dealership is willing to give me a TRIPLE NET DEAL (a deal which includes discounting hold back, etc., a deal ... I would like to purchase either a 2006 or 2007 used Mercedes E Class. Is the larger purchase price of the 2007 over the 2006 model worth the extra money? The engine size is the same but there are some changes between the two years in other areas such as the brakes.
I owned a 2005 BMW 525, 2006 BMW 530, 2007 BMW 530, and 2 BMW 535 in 2008 because BMW had to buy the first one back because of all the problems I had and then replaced it with another 535, and had the same problems with that one. I wouldn't own another BMW if it was given to me at no cost. I have a 2011 Mercedes E350 Sport and ... Read More
One thing nice about the pre 2005's is they have real leather, the 2006-2010 have vinyl (Mercedes calls it MB-Tex,it was originally designed for taxi cabs in Europe I think). Not sure how the pull of selling a car like that with vinyl, good marketing I suspect. The E500's and the S' do have real leather thou.
When I bought my 2001 E430 from a MB dealer in Mar 2006, the MB service adviser said..." If you can spend the money...go with 2005-up models. if you don't, stay with 96-2002 style. Although 2003-2009 E-class are very beautiful and elegant cars, and one day I might consider a 06-07 black/taupe model, Pre- 2005 were terrible and unreliable to the point of destroying MB's reputation with its horrible brake by ... The E class has always been the work horse of the Benz line. Stray from that model either up or down, and quality control issues galore arise. Not necessarily. Hi diva82, I would personally have a tough time purchasing a 2006 Mercedes E350 4Matic or any used car unless it was an incredible value. The used car market is quite soft right now. Is the vehicle certified? I really like the new design of the C-Class. How much money due at signing is required to obtain the $530 per month payment? All the best, Matt eights38@gmail.com

I know nothing about Mercedes-Benz cars except they're supposed to be well built, extremely reliable, and trouble free. 2002 - 2006 or so are the riskiest years for any used Mercedes product. Yet for all the great strides being taken by Toyota, Watanabe must be at least a little disheartened by the performance of the upmarket Lexus brand in Japan. The reason? Since the Lexus marque first went on sale in Japan last August, sales have hardly set the world afire (see BW Online, 7/11/05, "Lexus to the Rescue"). I think the disappearance of the stick shift is part of a larger phenomenon, which, if it runs counter to your auto-desires (as it does mine), you’ll find utterly objectionable. Car_Man I understand there is $2000 trunk money on the E350 this month. Is this also true for the E320 CDI Sedan ? Also, could you please provide the lease rates for Mercedes E350 and E320 CDI sedans for April 2006 ? Thanks !
I've had keyless GO on Lexus and Infiniti's, too. And my partner at work has it on Acura. Mercedes does it best. Infiniti is the worse. Lexus is pretty close to Mercedes. I'm suprised how subtle differences make a big difference in functionality. I thought about the panorama roof, but the only one I saw was at the auto show. I figured it would only look good on a black body. ... Read More
Real World test: ML 320 CDI vs. Rx 400h The German car magazine Auto Bild has conducted a comparative test drive from New York to San Francisco with a new Mercedes-Benz ML 320 CDI diesel and a Lexus RX 400h hybrid. Combined results for the test drive, which although it combined city and highway driving obviously emphasized the highway, had the Mercedes diesel besting the Lexus hybrid by 10% in terms ... All my complaints about the M are gone. Are you talking about the Infiniti M35? I think that many options in your article are fad-ish nonsense. Keyless go, electric trunk, etc. You don't need keyless go for any large reason, and the electric trunk is only meaningful on an SUV. I think I'm fine walking up to a sedan and opening the trunk myself, thank you very much! I thought the ... Read More

Short answer, no, it doesn't. Long answer, why on earth would you want to buy a C class in 2006? Isnt the car due for replacement next year? If you're looking in the entry-lux class, there are much newer and frankly much better cars available, the 330i and IS350.
Hi birdbird. Where did you hear that Mercedes-Benz is no longer providing a special lease money factor on this car? Its lease money factor on the 2006 E350 Sedan is actually lower this month than it was in December, .00250 vs. .00275. Unfortunately, it cut the Mercedes-Benz Credit bonus for this model to $2,000 (it was $3,000 last month). Car_man Host Smart Shopper / Prices Paid Forums
I live in Chicago too, and I tested the E350 4Matic (and the Range Rover Sport, and the Cayenne S) three days ago. I think it is totally worth the money- the one we tested was $56K, with the NAV, harmon/kardon LOGIC7 12 speaker audio system, and xenon headlights. However, I'm sure that was a dealer special. I built an E350 4Matic online, and with those options, it topped $60K. It's ... Read More

Hi golfer71. The Mercedes-Benz Financial lease program for the 2006 E-Class varies by trim level. If you let me know exactly which model you are interested in, I can tell you exactly what the March program for it is. As far as cash incentives go, Mercedes is currently providing $3,000 dealer cash on '06 E350 Wagon, E500 Wagon, and E500 Sedan models that may be combined with leases through MB Financial. ... Hi richardga73. If you haven't leased this car yet, you are in luck. Mercedes just introduced a great special lease on it for a change. According to the latest information that I have seen, if you were to lease a 2006 Mercedes-Benz E55 Sedan through Mercedes-Benz Financial right now for 36 months with 15,000 miles per year, its buy rate lease money factor and residual value should be .00125 and 55%, ... Yes, it is a PZEV - emission vehicle and I believe it is the canister. Thanks for the info. I am going to ask the dealer if they all sound so loud and if they can make it more quite. I have a 2002 BMW 530 that I recently listened to and it does the same thing, but I never noticed it in 4 years until now. The noise on it ... Read More
. . .rich folks vs really rich folks. One group of rich folks has good income, some wealth and decent cash flow, they are usually under 40. They drive the Audi, BMW and Mercedes high five and low six figure cars, if they are the more gregarious types (not that there is anything wrong with that.) The really rich folks seem to drive nice, but oddly inexpensive or older versions of ... Read More
I think you are correct, the answer in part is FDR, final drive ratio. Given the price differences and lease sub-venting, at least thus far and in the US and in Cincinnati, I can see little reason to go for the 525 even with the stick shift. You know, though, I got the 3.2 Audi thinking it was going to be less than every other car in the class. Even though ... Read More
Luxury Performance Sedans What is this discussion about? Lexus GS 430, Acura RL, BMW 5 Series, Lexus GS 300, Audi A6, Infiniti M35, Infiniti M45, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Sedan Our hosts have allowed a fairly wide latitude here on this forum -- and I think rightly so. What I was attempting to clarify without being "brusk" was a fairly commonly accepted classification of cars we discuss herein. The comments I made were ... Read More
And of course Lexus completely blew their chance to compete with a Diesel 4Matic Benz with their boneheaded move to make the GS450h RWD.
Well what you listed is pretty much it. The E500 will become the 382hp E550, but the E350 should stay the same. I don't think the new direct-injection 3.5L V6 will make it in time for our 2007 model year cars. Lastly, yes the E320CDI will get the new V6 making 4Matic an option for the first time on a E-Class diesel. There should be some interior tweaks and some updates ... Read More
For the 10th year in a row, Audi (and specifically AoA) has had "its best year ever." What I think is being suggested, when you factor in that every 2005 A6 in the US was AWD and EVERY Acura RL was AWD and (here in Cincinnati) 40%+ of the 2006 BMW 5 series are X-drive (so says the purchasing agent at Ohio's largest BMW store which is here in Cincinnati); and ... The 2006 Civic hybrid is ahead of the non-hybrid WITHOUT the tax incentives. Admittedly,it is a rare case, however. The tax incentives are icing on the cake. I agree they should not be generally used to compare the two alternatives, but since they exist, and the hybrid (Civic) is ahead anyway, it is merely a bonus to at least consider. Also, I am aware that there is generally an up front ... Read More
This is how the E-Class diesel has been handled. So, hopefully the new GL will be cleaner, but the current predictions are that it will not be clean enough. My wife has an '04 Lexus RX330, and she would prefer something more "sophisticated" next year. We were thinking of the Audi Q7- I am a loyal Audi fan, and I'm not saying no to that until I see it at the Chicago Auto Show this week. But, it would be a little odd if we had three Audis in the household, would it not? (I own an S4 Cabriolet, and ... Read More
