I was told that I needed a cabin filter for my 1999 mercedes benz e320. Could anyone tell exactly where it go. some instructions came with it but they are not clear.
tnx for the 335d transmission info, shipo. the Porsche/Audi dealer is conveniently 2 miles closer and knee-deep in manual transmissions and I'm pretty sure there is a bald-guy discount on 911s and S5s, in case I go in that direction. Back to the E-class, I'm still pining for a recent year Benz diesel to go with my set of 4 1999 16" E wheels and one scratched Y2k wheel. I've got ... Read More
I bought a 98 E320 4 matic wagon 12-05 with 70K and love it.....absolutely no problems....the esp light comes on periodically but I have driven it with it for 55+K miles and no problem......buy that car as fast as you can. I didn't have any papers to show maintenance but could tell from the perfect condition that is was well cared for. I use an independent dealer as I wasn't happy ... Read More
Hi gang, first post.. I found a nice 320 e wagon with 55,000 miles, one owner and dealer maintained... it seems nice and the miles are low. I think the car would suit my needs very well and the asking price is around 12,500. seems like a good deal considering the milage. also consumers reports is not as harsh on this year mercedes as it is on most others.. is there ... I also just found out the top coil on my 1999 E320 w/106000 mi was broken. The dealer will replace both front coils for $604.00!! He says it is a big job (1/2 day). He says he has seen several breakages like this. I think for a Mercedes this is faulty material, but I don't suppose they'll cover any of it. I only drive my car on good hard-surface roads. I've ... i don't know the name of that thing, i live in mexico, but my 1998 e320 had the same problem and it was a device that is located between the air filter and the admission and regulates the air flow. mercedes dealer charged me about $ 180.00 but a $ 30.00 unit can be bought elsewhere, only if i would know.
I am often wrong, but never uncertain: I am certain, at this point, that SAABs are not in the LPS pack, regardless of their status as living OR dead or nearly dead or not. The hidden rust was so bad on the retainer bracket for the top end of the right front wheel spring that the spring fell out on the floor of my garage and the car dropped down on the tire. Just my 2 cents, for what it is worth, in deciding between the E320CDI or 5 series, you base the decision on what you/your wife would like to drive for the next 3-5-7+ years that you intend to keep it. folks, good to hear about some reliable new benzes. our 1999 E320 wagon had a huge # of warranty issues and dealer visits in the first year - it was ridiculous. if you check the other E320 forums here you'll see an amazing # of horror stories. who knows, maybe i'll take the benz plunge again some year. there were so many things i loved about the E320! best regards, folks! ... my understanding is that even with ultra-low-sulfur-diesel, all these problems remain - the newest EPA regs cannot be met by the latest technology. so i've already snagged a 2005 passat tdi, traded a 2003 jetta tdi for it. the 2005 has its bugs, but it's reliable, as was the 2003. i'd consider a Benz diesel too if Benz could only make reliable new cars. it's nice to see some new CDIs ... All good points, all hit some target's bulls-eye. This report showing Audi has slipped to the bottom of the heap has to be particularly galling (to Audi and its most loyal fans) no matter how we try to spin it. Mercedes took care of if for free because it had just gone out of warranty (thank goodness). From 53,000 miles to 82,000 miles, I spent about $8,000 and didn't want to put another dime into that car. When is it expected in the US? 2004 model year? A few points: Historically, the E has targeted a different buyer than the 5-series. Although the lines have blurred a bit, the E still remains a bigger car, and IMO, targets more of the luxury buyer, recent engineering advances notwithstanding. I don't think Mercedes (or any other car manucturer) breaks very much new ground on technologies these days.
