CLK55 AMG Initial Evaluation

2004 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class CLK55 AMG 2dr Cabriolet (5.4L 8cyl 5A)

The perfect convertible. Delivery by Crown Motors BHM was excellent; Styling, performance, handling, ride comfort and quality are 10's and make this a great value. The engine is a real gem and I love just to hear it start. You can tell the engine is serious. Rear seat has adequate leg room given it overall dimensions. The one buttom top open/close is amazing.

CLK 500 cabrio 2004

This car is built solid. It's fast, fun and drop-dead gorgeous. Superb styling..glad I didn't buy the '03 420 cab. Gas mileage is quite good for a V8, 302hp. I get 18-23. Order a 320 if you are concerned about gas mileage! Feels like a coupe inside with very nice roof liner; very quiet for a ragtop. A bit pricey, but will hold its value due to demand. You'll have to wait to get it. Dealers are not getting very many cars.

Do not purchase the sport package with the low profile tires. They are damaged much too easily as these tires cannot handle the rigors of everyday driving in Chicago,

More attention to detail

We had the same model in 2001. There have been imporvements to the "cowl shake" in the front end. The cup holder is ridiculous. It is high on the dash and out of the way to reach. There is only one cupholder. The 2001 had two cupholders in the center console (for use by both front and rear passengers. The Command Navigation System is primitive compared to the DVD based systems of Toyota and Lexus. It is difficult to operate and poor technology as well as not being accurate.

The 04 CLK Cabio is a fantastic automobile. It is very well appointed and looks great. With the top down it is a truely beautiful car. The only drawback is the trunk. It's too small, but you can carry whatever you want with the top down. This is a well appointed, reasonibly fast and beautiful convertible.

Fabulous... Picked it up at a great NJ dealership in Little Silver NJ (Contemporary Motors) The convertiable was picked up during the coldest day of the year so far. I put 4 blisaks snow on the car and it drives fine in the snow. The car is a headturner. I am enjoying the car so much during the winter and can not wait to put the top down during the Spring.

Fun and fast CLK500

I traded in my CLK320 for the CLK500 and what a differecne in speed, torque, and handling. The CLK500 is built solid and runs like a dream. As for the comment by another review about an oil dipstick, why? use the computer to check your oil, that's what Mercedes is all about. Nothing beats this car in build, reliability, and interior qualtiy. The Bose system is awesome thanks to the new digital wiring and sound.
