Have a 2004 C230 Kompressor Sport Sedan. I'm the original owner and have 257,000 miles on the car. I bought the car for reasons of safety, endurance, looks, and a sporty feel. It's given me everything I wanted. As long as I follow maintenance schedules I expect to exceed 400,000 miles. I've not had any major problems with the car. This is the best car I've had in my life.
My favorite features are: classy curb appeal, the supercharger, the interior appearance, 32 mpg, sports car feel.
Less road noise

I bought this car with 39K miles on it and now have 124K on it. Here is a list of the issues wither fixed and/or still broken... 2004 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C230 Kompressor Rwd 4dr Sport Sedan (1.8L 4cyl S/C 6M) C230 Kompressor Rwd 4dr Sport Sedan (1.8L 4cyl S/C 6M)
I am original owner of a Mars Red C230 Kompressor. 65k miles. Stowed properly for winter every year and since purchased. Car gets so many looks, countless people have stopped me to say how beautiful the car is over the years. The power is incredible, especially off the line...sweet gas mileage even when you punch it. Brakes are hands down the best. So far just changed the oil, bled the brakes in the spring, cleaned sunroof track and waxed. NEVER had a quality issue...only infrequent, and very minor issues. Perfect excuse to go to the dealer and absorb the Benzo eye-candy. Love the car, brand, the Nordstrom level of service and features of S-class for a great price
Swagger, i.e. Balls, Power (low/high end). Fuel efficiency, 34.5mpg on last 4 hour road trip. Great looking color, hood, rear-end, profile. Fat rear tires give it that hot rod look, though suttle enough to be a daily driver. Lumbar support is perfect, driven 12 hours straight comfortably. 6-cd changer, A/C, sunroof, power windows and everything else still works flawlessly. Auto-dimming mirrors really make night driving a nice experience.
Super fast when needed. great gas mileage 32MPG hwy. sporty and super fun to drive. Can't believe I fit into this as well as I do. 6'2 and weigh 285lbs. very comfortable and roomy for myself and girl. plenty of room in the trunk even though it could be a little deeper. great sounding stereo with all features you could ask for. Just love this car! Purchased from the original owner in 2011. Had 54,600 miles and not one little dent, tear etc. even smelt like it came straight from the factory. best 11,500.00 I ever spent!
CD changer, plenty of room in the glove box even though you think their wouldn't be. Nice sport sedan all the way around. Just love this car!
I feel the back seat is perfect for carrying my skis and anything long that the truck does not hold. More room in the glove box than I thought. The CD changer takes up space but was surprised the manual and other things fit without a problem. Nice to have a cassette to play my old songs that I recorded 25+ years ago and love all of the steering wheel features where you can control without lifting your arm. Its a first for me
I've owned my C230 Kompressor sedan for almost 7 years now and it's as fun to drive as ever. I've got the six speed manual transmission, so the car is really responsive jetting around town, yet retains a smooth luxurious feel on the highway in the higher gears. I haven't had any major repairs in 7 years, though the lock mechanism on the left rear door has just started to malfunction within the last month. All in all a great car, that's been lots of fun to drive, at a very good value, if you consider I paid around $32K for it and drove it for almost seven years.
Sun Roof, six speed manual Xmission, 6 CD player, automatic sun shade for rear window.
I don't like the look of this model year from behind, looks cheap. Mercedes did fix this though, starting in 2005 they rounded out the rear of the car for a better, more stylish look.
I won this car in a casino drawing in Laughlin, Nevada in December of 2005. The car was "new" (but already 2 model years old) but did have about 800 miles on it. I have really enjoyed this great surprise "gift" and drive it mostly on trips from my home in Bullhead City, AZ to Vegas, Southern CA and the Bay Area. Car does perform GREAT on the highway. with 28-31 MPG. City MPG 21-25. Supercharger is awesome for passing. City performance a bit sluggish. Interior pretty comfy, but I could see it would be a bit cramped for very large or tall people. Exterior styling on this model is beautiful and classic. Very few minor problems so far so I am quite pleased. Worth every penny I paid!
Exterior styling, nice dash displays, steering wheel controls, great sounding stereo, great A/C system (very important for our 110+ degree summer heat here in AZ), great fuel economy and excellent highway power and performance
Could be a bit more "zippy" off the highway.
I have really enjoyed this car. It has been incredibly reliable and comfortable on long road trips. Short drives are enjoyable also.
My favorite features would be rain sensing windshield wipers, panerama roof, rear sun shade and easy entry assist.
I have not suggestments for improvement. I think this car is absolutely perfect as it is.
I bought this car a few months ago and love it. This car gets awsome gas mileage at 23 mpg city-33 mpg hwy and is very comfortable to sit in on long trips, not to mention it turns a lot of heads.
My favorite feature is the how quiet of a ride it is and how quiet the doors sound when you shut them. Before this I owned an Acura TSX and they are very very loud inside while you are driving. Everyone always asked if my windows were down!
I have seen the new ones and have nothing at this point to add as a change because this I would have said have already been done.
We bought this car with high hopes, well it has by far passed them all. We bought it new and it has never failed. Only regular maintaenance and oil changes. It now has about 100k on it and it still run strong. I now upgraded to a E500, but my daughter just got her license and she got the C230. Oh and the mileage is great! I get around 33 on the highway and 25 in town. I would buy this car over and over gladly.
The MB badge, sound system, and seats fill you like a glove.
Very impressive, classy car. Always dependable, no mechanical issues since purchased in July 07. My only issues; this vehicle is zippy and performs fabulously on the highway, but a bit sluggish for a supercharged vehicle around town. I expected more power than this. You've got to put the pedal to the floor to get out of the way. I'm most disappointed in the front seats of this car as they have no lumbar support and built like cardboard. Not a good choice for long distance driving. I've had to add a lumbar support module to my front seat which looks rediculous and shabby in a Benz, but necessary. No lie, every passenger I've had in my car have complained about the seats.
Style, sophistication, class, need I say more. Excellent fuel economy! Great car for a petite woman or man.
Expected more out of Benz, comfort isn't here. Seats need to be restyled for comfort and support. I don't have back or spine issues but after driving 40 minutes, I complain of discomfort from the seats. There's also not enough leg room for a passenger over 6 ft tall. Bring a cushion, seats are hard.
I bought this car about two weeks ago, it had 36 grand on the odometer. So far this vehicle has far exceeded my expectations for a used entry level Benz. On my 250 mile trek back home from purchasing it, I got over 31 miles per gallon, and I loved every facet of the c230. My friend has a BMW 325i and he commented the ride better than his BMW, also the leg room in the front better than the BMW. He also said less road noise, and a few features the Benz had he wished the BMW had. The regular halogen headlight are phenominal, I mean super good, better than any other car I've ever had. The seats were great, power is fine and I just love this car. If you've never had one, get one, worth it
The smooth sporty ride is fun, I wake up ready to drive this car even when I have nowhere to go. Love the stereo, Harmon Kardon. Great road feel and the look of a Benz gives you a pride of ownership second to none. I have found no faults with anything, just make sure you put good tires on it.
Bigger motor is always acceptable, but the double edged sword rule plays there also. Big motor, bad mileage.
I have this car for 4 years and no problems at all. It is so much fun to drive. Pick up is excellent, road handling is excellent. I wish we have nicer highways in NY. Very good gas mileage. Maintenance free service was excellent ( I am just over 50K now) This is not a car for snow unless you want to slide all over.
Performance, interior quality, gas mileage, transmission
Better standard music system
I traded up from a '98 SLK, which I loved but needed more room. The sedan is not as balanced, responsive or sporty as the convertible but overall a great ride. The supercharged 4 is a phenomenal engine, superb torque, and amazing pull available throughout the smooth shifting gears. Ride quality and quietness are acceptable but no one will mistake it for an S Class. Too much body roll on hard cornering. Seats are pretty firm and not enough lateral support. If you normally use cupholders, forget about it! Brakes are excellent. Overall fit and finish top- notch, ergonomics plain but well laid out. Still the best buy in the 35K+/- price group.
Looks, performance and quality. Without a doubt, my favorite feature is the way it makes you feel when you look out over the expansive hood and see the thre-pointed star standing tall on the car that you are lucky enough to be driving.
Tighter suspension in the sport mode. More cushy seats with better side bolsters. OEM Michelins were abysmal. Six, count 'em 6 tires in 15,000 miles. Two with sidewall failure. Pirelli Zero Neros solved that problem. Window sills and odd beltline catch water resulting in unsightly waterspotting.
Perhaps the best value on the market. Great fuel efficiency and pep and sporty styling are big pluses. Tires wear out quickly though and front and rear sizes are different. When my Michelins wore out at 15,000 I found some Bridgestone Fuzions that are much better and more reasonably priced.
Sporty styling, fuel efficiency and value.
Tire issues, cup holders, full power seats.
We really like the car. It has good power and looks great. The star on the hood gets respect. Don't plan on having this car be your family car. It's just too small. Great as a single persons car or a married couple. The car has never left us stranded but has been in the shop often. We're going to trade down to a Chevy. We're also concerned about the cost of repairs after the warranty expires.
Great engine, great brakes, great agility.
The Benz has handled well in all driving conditions. The OEM tires from Continental were the only disappointment performance wise because of the short duration (27000 miles). Otherwise, awesome for a 4 cyl.
Integrated steering controls, blue tinted windows & sunroof.
The Mercedes-Benz C230 Sedan has a lot going for it. It is a reasonably priced car with great build quality, great gas mileage, and more comfort and elbow room than the 2000 BMW 3-Series I used to drive.
Excellent, highly adjustable seats. Auto-sensing windshield wipers. On- board computer provides a lot of useful information.
The Bose sound system is a joke. The radio reception is poor and the speakers lack top end and bottom end.
My 2004 C230K is my very first Mercedes-Benz and I have no idea how I can ever go back to regular cars. This car performs like no other I have driven. It handles better then any car in its class! Go test drive it and see for yourself! It was love at first sight. It is a little pricey but it is worth every penny. I love my car so much and I get so many compliments.
Performance, Sound system, interior and exterior
I have not yet tested it in the snow, which I am dreading, but on dry roads it is amazing. It performs wonderfully, I would not change a thing except make the C230 Kompressor Sedan all Wheel drive. PLEASE!
Buyer beware of this piece of crap! The car has had nothing but problems - 3000 kms and it has been into dealer 5 times now. They have had it for two weeks so far. 1st they replaced the fuel injectors, now the kompressor. Wrong kompressor installed by factory - really makes you wonder - Still not fixed! Maybe the dealer is incompetent! No loner offered. I would really think twice before buying another Mercedes. A real Lemon! High end Junk!
None. Haven't been able to drive it much. Its been in the shop most of the time
Need to improve customer interface and take responsibility when they put out a lemon!!!!!!!! Can't see how they will survive if quality isn't improved! High end junk!
Excellent car...I will buy another MB when I look for a new car.
Seating comfort is great, and exterior styling is excellent.
Move the power window controls higher or into the center console.
A4, IS300, 325i, G35, TSX, look out and make way! Everything I wanted in performance and near luxury are in my new c230 sport sedan. Engine is responsive even when cruising in 6th! The upgraded vented discs up front are great for braking. The smooth lines and moldings separate this from the non sport version. The 5 spoke 17" wheels and performance tires are really the best exterior statement. Not only will a proud owner get the respect and looks from other drivers, but the car makes an overall "I've arrived" statement. The best value ever for your hard earned dollar. What are you waiting for?
The sporty styling, peppy engine, wheels, blue tint, handling, braking, short throw shifting, and the best "I've arrived" feeling.
Bi-Xenon Headlamps, Heated Power (not just 1/2) Seats, and a Sunroof should be standard. The standard sound system needs more bass. A hand brake and a dead pedal would be nice as well. I'm sure M-B engineers can squeeze a little more hp out of the 4 cylinders and boost the revs up.
I spent five hours at the Audi dealership haggling and became so upset I called up Mercedes and they had me in the car of my dreams in an hour and a half. I didn't expect my first car to be manual living in LA but I love it. Its so quiet and corners better than an A4 (also has 20 more horsepower). Chose the car over IS300, 325i and A4 and have no regrets. It has a very sporty yet distinctive look. Love the four door sedan with the feel of a coupe.
The turbo is great, as well as the standard leather which the A4 doesn't have ($2,000 more). Cooler compartment isn't that useful but very cool. Very smooth lines in and out of the car.
Stereo is average but should be better for 35K.
First day.I very empress. My last car was A6-2.7 T. 2001 model. My least was 36m -$ 610.01per months. My new MB 39months-$366.04.Performance 100%.I will rec. this car. I loved. Good luck.
This car is a perfect blend of luxury and sports performance. It's surprisingly well-priced. It handles hair pin turns like a true high performance sports car, yet rides like a luxury sedan. The 4 cylinder Kompressor engine has a surprising amount of power. One would never guess the car has a four cylinder engine. The interior is impressive. The seats are comfortable. The car comes with many features that are found in its more expensive models. It's a little tight in the back but still makes for a comfortable ride. The sound system is impressive. This car is a must on your list of cars to test drive.
The handling is magnificient. Gorgeous looks inside and out.
A little tight in the back.
I drive MB on business in Europe. Bought one of my own and love the car. Comfortable at speed, both here and on the Autobahn, and handling both at speed on interstate and in my favorite hairpins, is exceptional.
Love the styling and handling. Tight turns, and the seats hold you behind the wheel nicely! Bose system sounds great, ride is comfortable, even better than the larger Chrysler 300M I traded. Great introduction to German engineered driving-
Rain sensor goes nuts around 11-1 in the afternoon! Black paint scratches permanently from a cat walking on the car! Can't see the wiper controls without turning the steering wheel. ESP system jumps the gun on me occasionally (a little spin or slip in the turns is fun!).
This car is a fun car to drive with everything I was looking for with an unbelievable low price. Interior of the car is sporty with aluminum trims and comfortable leather seats, race pedals. Not to mention the navigation system, cd changer etc. Car has the speed not expected from a 4 cylinder (faster than c240 V6). Performance is good but excellent for the price. Exterior look is great with a sporty kit, exhaust tip, 17 inch wheels that really stand out and gets a lot of attention, staggered wheels, sunroof, and bi xenon headlamps. For the price of in the low 30's it is an excellent deal!
Bi xenon headlamps which give the car a great look. The 17 inch wheels with the brake rotors. Navigation system.
Of course more speed! SCRATCH PROOF PAINT.
Decided to move up from a Honda Accord, and cannot believe the difference between the two vehicles. Everything about this car is amazing. The vehicle dynamics alone should be a selling point. Just got back from a trip up to Morro Bay, Ca., and avg. close to 29 mpg @ 80+. More importantly though, is how this vehicle behaves, whether it's the steering, braking, or cornering, it really shows its heritage, especially when compared to my Accord. Don't get mewrong, the Honda was a great car, but there is no comparison between the two.
Tip start(no need to keep holding the key), electronic key-look ma-no blade, lane change turn signal feature, free maintainance, blue tinted glass, tip shift automatic tranmission, standard side airbags.
It was refreshing to test drive this little Benz, after owning 2 MBs (190E 2.6/300E) that it can be made both solid, stable and fun at the same time: Quick ratio steering but well damped, great solid body, wonderful peppy 4 cyl engine (this thing gets down and boogey, even to this Boxster owner), nicely done interior, far superior to those of Audi A4/BMW 3/Lexus IS300/Infi G35 etc...and overall driving finesse unmatched by any of the above brands. It IS the car to drive home AFTER experiencing all others, for it calms your nerve and surrounds you in well- engineered safety features and still a heck of fun to drive when you want to.
Great solid body, door slam sounds, beautiful contrasting interior material (love those fake carbon-fiber look!), thick doors, ultra smooth engine and torque, cross-drilled huge front rotors and beautiful wheels, best auto gear shifter in the business!
Hertz rental car like main instrument panel lacking engine temp display, unfit in a classy MB, expensive options, temp control knobs too small, Bose premium sounds not really premium sounding.
Great balance between ride & handling with a refined powertrain & solid feel; 4 cyl. very quick & refined with good mileage; abundance of safety & comfort features. Don't buy a BMW 325 or Infiniti G 35 until you check this car out. The dealership & great service is an added plus.
Looks, xenon lights, rain sensor wipers, bose radio & auto. on/off headlights.
Steering too heavy under 10 mph; accelerator pedal too far & hard to press & lack of driver lumbar support.
Most Bang for the buck! I've owned my 2004 for about 8 months now. I initially was out to get a BMW 325. However, after driving the C230k, the BMW was out of the question! In my opinion, the exterior styling/whoa factor can't be beat by any car in it's price segment. The interior materials are grade "A". Also, performance is awesome! Everyone who I let drive my car, usually is quite shocked after I tell them that there's a 4cyl under the hood, not a 6cyl. I will admit that handling isn't as precise as that of the Bimmer, but I will say this...the c230 is the BEST combination of sport/luxury that one can get for barely over $30k!
I absolutely LOVE the exterior styling, including the wheel/tire combo. I can't not mention the potent 4cyl engine and mind-reading automatic transmission.
INCLUDE A FREAKING DEAD PEDAL!!!! I'm no racer-boy or anything, but when making a tight turn, I WOULD like a little stability, without having to get the light colored carpet dirty. Besides that, I got no issues with my car.
Excellent vehicle!!! Sporty yet classy and elegant...very fun to drive, especially with triptronic transmision...vehicle has an excellent grip of the road...
I purchased it about 6 months ago and I am loving every moment of it. My Helga is fun to drive and it absouletly is an eye candy. Much better looking then a BMW 3 series. I like the way she rides on highway I did drove it 330 miles non stop and it was a wonderful experience.
Comfort, Music System
BLUETOOTH a MUST - MORE POWER - Better Handling - BLUETOOTH a MUST (it is a 5 dollar chip WHY SHOULD I BUY A SERVICE FROM VERIZON or AT&T and USE A STUPID MOTOROLA PHONE) we should be able to get a BLUETOOTH PHONE SYSTEM not depending on service provider and phone.......
I love my 2003 C230 Sedan, it has all the style and luxury appeal of Mercedes- Benz but a price tag that I could swallow. Great Performance, styling and comfort, my only regret is thaT I didnt get the Cold Weather package (heated Seats)....
Get rid of the tape deck and put a standard in Dash CD player.
Great little sporty luxury vehicle.
I had a 2002 C240. I like the car, but is was way to slow and had a bit too much body roll for me. Also, the gas mileage was mediocre considering it was only a 2.6 V6 putting out a measly 168 hp. The kompressor model feels like a different car. It addresses my complaints about the 240, and gets great gas mileage to boot. I would still like a bit more power, but for 31K you don't get everything. I'm very happy with the car and would highly recommend it.
This is my first Benz. I actually went to the Dealer to look at a BMW 325. After driveing both and comparing the price the Benz had a better ride and price was 5000 dollars less. But I like Red and this was the perfect color. YOu can tell immediately the quality is 1st class. For the quality you get for the price this is probably the best deal on the market. I have had Honda Accords in the past. Everyone has Accords. I have not seen another Red C230K on the road. One bad thing now is everyone knows when I am around. When they see this car they know it is me.
17 inch Rims are very sporty, Mars Red color, Super drive, Excellent power, Very smooth and the quality of the build is outstanding. Paint job is outstanding. Free service throughout the warranty period.
Same size rims and tires on the front and back so the tires can be rotated, Turn signal and cruise control handles are to close. Bose should be standard. Memory seats should be standard, Lumbar adjustment on the drivers seat should be standard.
The C230K sport sedan is a fun car to drive. The best value for your money 2-3k less then a BMW 3. Seats, body, tires/wheel combination are all sporty and agreesive and make for a beast of car. Take a drive and you will love it. First time Benz owner and have driven Honda's and Nissan all my life and have finally got something fun and not boring to drive!
Wheels, seats, color and tail pipe.
Memory Seats standard, eliminate cassatte and replace with single CD, power seats instead of semi power.
Finally moving up from Accords. I purchased this black Benz a week ago with the automatic transmission, sunroof package, heated seats, and CD changer options. This car offers an excellent combination of luxury and performance. Interior room is fine for those up front, but a bit snug in the rear. So dont buy this car based on its people-hauling ability. After test driving the Audi A4 and Acura TSX, I realized the C230 Sport was the best choice for me. Whether or not it is better than the 325i or A4 is a matter of opinion, but you owe it to yourself to take this car for a good long test drive. Dealing with the Mercedes dealership was a pleasure.
Safety features, luxurious and comfortable interior, handling and performance, sporty looks, trip computer, rain sensor, rear sunshade, heated seats, and yes, Warranty.
None so far!
I find this is a nimble, solid, and fairly spirited sports sedan - not a position all of the automotive press takes on the C series. In fact when test driviung it seemed as good, albeit less powerful, than my brother's (much more expensive)'02 BMW 330i. But I did find a review (Motor Trend?) where the reviewers liked the driving dynamics of the C-230 better that the well-liked Acura TSX. That made sense to me. I liked the '04's low and wide stance and was able to get an irresistable deal on a 6-spd. Its a great driver, but Ive only had it a few days so I can't comment on its reliability.
Wonderful manual transmission, solid feel, great breaks, beautiful wheel/tire combo which gives the car an agressive, hunkered-down appearance, responsive steering with great road feel, excellent ride/handling combo, nice sounding smooth fun little engine, rear wheel drive.
Better instrumentation (more dials and a larger tach - I understand the 2005 may have this - see Edmond's Future Vehicles), better back support for the front seats, a touch more power.
The design, performance...everything about this car is awesome! It handles great and will not dissapoint you. I drove everything including the 3- series, IS300, A4 Quattro, G35 and this was by far the best.
The slight blue tint, 17 inch sport rims and huge tires, steering wheel comfort, and everything else about this car.
Standard xenon lights but other than that its perfect!
Beautiful Car, I am seven months in, no problems, price was right, features are exceptional. Did have to purchase winter tires. This ride is a head turner. Highly recommend.
Interior and Exterior Styling Surprizing power and handling Fuel economy
Upgrade the tail pipe, it doesn't go with the car.
I priced a 325I & a C230. With the same options the Benz came in $3K less and had more bells & whistles. The acceleration on the Benz is excellent from the 1.8SC engin. The sport suspension makes the car hold the road very very well. I compare this car to my 91 525, which was the best car I ever owned. The C230 driver seat SUCKS. There is no lumbar support. No upgrading to the multi-contour seat unless you spend $10k more & go to the C320. The std radio is a big disappointment. The bass is hardly noticeable. When you start off slowly the electronic trans gets confused & the car bucks. The car is worth the $30K.
Crisp Acceleration, Excellent handling, gas mileage, overall price
Put lumbar supports in those seats. Mercedes needs to improve on it's standard radio.
Fun car to drive - looks great. Did cost much more than the "everyone has one" Accord.
Defroster really loud.
Having grown tired of the SUV's and pickup trucks I've driven for the past 12 years, I started shopping for a new sedan. I wanted high quality, fuel efficiency, driving comfort, and that 'something special'. After test-driving the C230K with auto transmission, CD changer, heated front seats and the sunroof package in exterior black, I was sold. The Mercedes Benz of Alexandria sales team gave me a good price for the automobile and a surprisingly good price for my SUV trade-in. Today, for the first time in 18 years, I hopped in the car to take a drive just for the fun of it.
Supercharged 1.8L engine is quick and fuel-efficient. Looks and handling of the 17" wheels and tires. Overall fit and finish is excellent.
The only improvement I would suggest is to ditch the 'semi-electric' seats for full power.
Previously owned a BMW 323i which I did love but there is no comparing w/ my new C230 -- The C230 is much sporty and easier to handle. I love this car!! Great visual appeal.
Handle is great on this car.
Blinker / wipers and the cruise control are too close to each other -- Should be a AWD vehicle.
I bought this car about a week ago. I didn't really test drive anything else in the class, I didn't have to. Right away I loved it, the sleek design, interior comfort, Mercedes Quality, and most of all the price. My question is why is the car getting the cold shoulder with the experts? Almost every expert rating including this site doesn't like the car and it has recieved bad marks compared to The Audi, BMW, and Lexus comparable model.
design, saftey features
bigger back seat, option to not have the supercharged engine
230 comes std w/17" wheels, sports suspension, 8 airbags, leather-BMW does NOt! For 10K less you can get a reliable, safe, high quality car. A4- many mechanical problems, no steering wheel controls. Passat not only holds it value better, but better value overall than A4. New VolvoS40 too family/Jetta 1.8T like, Lexus/TSX glorified Toyota/HOndas w/higher price. Saab Not hold its value! Al trim nice changer if grew up w/wood interiors. Yes, BMW comes std w/Al trim now
SS exhaust makes car look like it has double its hrspwr, htd seats for those w/winters, cd changer in gbox, blue tint glass-especially drivers side mirror, sunshade, trunk size
It is "3S"- Solid - build,Safe - to drive,Strong - body. I like it very much and I feel I can depend on it on the road. Krystyna.
Stable space for hand bag, firm space for bottle of water, cell ph.hany space, note pad space, two cups coffee holder, easier Cd`s changer.
Excellent if you like to step on the gas & go, go, go... Great new interior styling and also new sporty exterior features! I am very please with my 2nd or is it 3rd..?
Carbon fibre trimmings & outside sporty look.
Extraordinary Heat! generated by cat.placed underneath car.
This is the most fun driving I've had in a looooong time!
Great suspension, ultra-quiet ride, quick and peppy engine!
A little slick in the snow without the awd...
I Love my Mercedes-Benz!
There might be other entry level luxury cars out there, but the C230 Kompressor stands out. Not to say it's perfect, but the Audi and BMW 3 series are on the street in numbers comparable to HONDA. If you want something that makes you feel like you dont have an everyday commom care, this is a perfect choice. I see people staring at it and get lots of compliments.
The aluminum trim that subs for the wood grain in the non-sport versions.
Better gas mileage, it does drink the gas.
quick, quiet, and sexy
premium sound package is a must. The 17" wheels are beautiful.
I like the car, I think the alloy rims and sound system are unbelievable. My 6-speed tranny went out at 258 miles and I am still very bitter about it. I average 31.5 MPG and get looks from people who think I spent a million bucks (it's black). I think the car is fun, it's the nicest car I have ever owned, but it's been in the shop 3 times in the last 3 months.
After test driving several cars in this class, the C230 was my hands down choice. The visibility for city driving is very good, the car handles well, and as usual, Mercedes packs luxury with safety and sportiness well. I plan to drive this car 100000+ miles, I will update my review annually.
Comfort, Safety and Handling - and cd changer is in glove box.
Gear shift could be solid surface such as wood or resin vs Leather.
I had an Acura 3.2 CL Type S. I had a BMW 325i. Now I have the Mercedes C230 Kompressor Sport Sedan. Of the three, the Mercedes is by far the better car at the better price for what you get. This car is built for the driving enthusiast who also seeks the finest detailing and craftsmanship. I won't waste your time writing an amateur review. Just go drive one. You'll see.
The aggressive styling of the 17" 5 star wheels. The racing type pedals, the slightly blue tint of the windows, the bi-xenon headlight upgrade, the vehicle's supreme craftsmanship, and the sophisticated yet sporty tactility of the interior cabin.
The vehicle is designed to "adapt" to the driving habits of it's driver. Sometimes I wonder if it gets confused because it doesn't always react the same way in similar situations. I have only had the car for two weeks, maybe it's still "learning."
This is by far the Best car of it's class. Safety, performance, price, features, design, etc. Drives sweeet and strong, stops very fast and has an amazing cornering stability. My sticker price was 28,600 with CD changer. The 2004 new features are awsome, the new wheels, the lower profile, the exhaust pipe, the vented front brake discs look the best. The 6 Speeed manual transmision is amazing. too.
6 speed manual transmision and THE LOOKS!
Better Sound system and istead of 1.8 supercahrged should be 2.3 supercharged in order to increase the HP and torque. Lets make this car FLY!
I had this car two weeks ago, and it is a blast to drive it. Excellent power from the supercharged 4 cylinder. Quality interior finish.
Auto wipers, trip computer, comfortable seats, and the supercharged engine.
Standard Audio does not have speakers at the back (it only have on the rear doors), Standard audio might be little bit better
This is my 2nd Mercedes and I'm loving this one more than my 300E. From the C230's stylish looks to its quick and efficient kompressor engine, this car is a dream. It's fun to drive and it is built very safety oriented. The finish work is superb. While on vacation on Maui last week, I rented a Ford Escape. I couldn't wait to get back in my C230!
6 CD changer in glove box, electronic key system, rear window shade and the automatic intermittant wipers (I live in Seattle)
None. This car is the best car I've ever owned.
Well...I've only had this car three days, but I'm so excited to finally be an owner of a MB! I shopped for more than a year and almost bought the coupe version last January, but held off as I wasn't quite ready. During the last few months I drove all the competition and it came down to the Audi A4 and the C230k Sport Sedan. I first thought that I was going to buy the Audi, but I talked the dealers in letting me have them both for an all-day test drive and the C230k SC took the prize. Ultimately, it's the one that made me smile the most!!!
The styling of the car. It's perfect. The interior is equally as impressive. I have the ash leather interior which is so rich looking, but I have had two friends express that it was too light in tone. The silver accents on the body are great too. Love the power of the 1.8L Turbo engine.
At this point I can't answer this, but will let you know how things progress.
Going from a modified to rally stage 02 WRX @300HP, the get up and go of this car is much less...But wait..while I can't sprint and hit the corners as hard, this car really moves with an agile confidence. The more I drive it the more I am impressed. Wrap it up with the MB styling...I love it..the 04 wheels and pipe give it a great look and profile. Add in some comfort, and borderline luxury and it is a sweet ride... Close to a work of art in my eyes.
Exterior styling. Ride. Handling
Stock stereo stinks..I have the bose in my 03 ML350, and it is much better. Put the wood in..The brushed aluminum is not bad...but the wood is too signature not to have. about 80 more horses
a sporty sedan with some power. compared hard with 3 series/ A6. i have owned the car for 4 months now, and i can honestly say that it was a great decision....no regrets. power and transmission are awesome. style is incredible and sleek...gets lots of looks. my first mercedes. it outdoes the 3 series i used to own, primarily with handling characteristics and very responsive throttle/transmission. this car is fun to drive and is an excellent value for the price...considering the 'luxury' associated with the name, the european performance, and beautiful craftsmanship. very solid buy.
one touch controls. cabin lighting. leather craftsmanship. transmission.
(these are not a big deal) make seats all electric. 10 to 15 more hp would be nice.
I don't like how there's no switch that opens the doorlocks from the inside. If I want to let passengers in the backseat, I have to open my door to unlock all the doors. The controls in the dash is hard to reach. The sound system needs an upgrade, and the digital dash display looks too big and generic, reminds me of my 86 Mazda.
steering radio and phone control and seat warmers.
Please, have a master unlock button in the car!
Make the garage door process easier. Have two garage doors and it makes it quite hard to program.
the sporty feel.
Shopped like a madman. Have owned Lexus, Infiniti and a 240D MB. I simply thought that after reviewing and driving most of the $30-40K sedans, this was the obvious choice.
Great fun to drive. Very responsive. Love the handling. It's like a comfortable go-kart.
Disappointed in the outrageous cost to implement the factory phone set-up.
The 230's supercharger is one of the greatest things about this car. The first three gears will put a smile on your face and the grip is amazing.
Rims, Tires, & overall shape.
A higher boost pulley which could boost performance times. The dials are also a bit bland.
I purchased this vehicle appox. 3 weeks ago. It's performance if good, a little sluggish when the AC is on but, not bad. There is very little room in the rear seats if you are tall and have the front seats all the way back. I have put 2500 miles on it so far with no concerns. Nicely equipt, the cost is approx. $34,000 + taxes . I would recommend it to other buyers. I had a 22001 BMW 3 series but, didn't like the ride. The Mercedes is much more comfortable while driving then the BMW. I also have a 2001 SLK Convertible which is fun to drive. Overall I am happy with both.
Electric rear window shade.
Include Navigation system as standard equipment.
incomparable safety with flawless engineering makes for a perfect car under $40,000.
add wood trim option
My wife and I have owned 4 BMW's and 3 Saabs over the past fifteen years and finally made the step into a Mercedes. We're glad we did. The rock solid feel of this car is unlike the others we've owned. The Kompressor has plenty of power and we got 34mpg on an interstate trip we took the first week of owning it. Computer is great with access on the steering to all controls. The seats are very supportive when you're throwing it through the esses. Fit, finish and paint are superb. Dealing with the Mercedes dealership was a pleasure.I would highly suggest you drive the C230 4 door if you are in the market for a car of this type.
Vault like feel, standard audio system with 6 disc changer, handling, seats
Have'nt found any yet
C230 sport sedan is a great deal. If you don't mind giving up a little bit of refinement (V6 vs I4), this is the one to get and save about $3000 over a BMW 325i. The car has been flawless so far, and I like the car more and moreas I drive it. You won't be dissapointed.
Great looking exterior Well put together interior Leather combo interior at no extra cost Lot of standard features Xenon Lights Auto Light feature
Wish the Navigation was DVD based for less money.
The inside is a little tight with four adults. and Teleaid option would have been a plus.
Adjustable stering Wheel and CD changer in glove compartment
Teleaid option in C230 kompressor sedan Alittle extra backseat leg room wouldn't hurt either.
Excellent car for the money. I checked BMW 3 series, Lexus IS 300 and Volvo S60. So far the best drive and comfort and value compared to mentioned. The dealer was kind of not to MB standard. They need to change there customer handling procedures. Over all A great car!Go buy it over BMW or Lexus,
All features are great
So far none. Will keep you all posted.
I have had my MB C230 Kompressor since May of 2003 and I cannot express how much beauty, comfort and the way the car handles that this car has. This is possibly the best car I have owned by far.
All features are fun. the best part is that the 6-speed manual transmission is a blast and the super chargers bootsts very well that you can feel it.
Raise the boost on the car and make it fly more.
