I'm with Merc as well - The Europeans were concerned with car safety was Ford was still trying to place the gas tank on the Pinto for the best possible explosion. Japanese cars of the 70's and early 80's were also a joke. Today in 2004 a lot of work has been done to even the playing field, but the point is the Europeans especially Mercedes, were dealing with this issue ... Read More

Mercedes is trying to fix the problems. It must be an embarrassment. However, it remains to be seen until time passes and we can look back at the reliability of 2004 and 2005 models.

I too went to the C-Spot "Party" in Rye, NY today. While it was a fine opportunity to become aware of the C-Class line, I was very dissappointed in the way that the drives were structured. The only course that you could drive yourself was very short (perhaps ½ mile total) and didn't have a straightaway sufficiently long to test acceleration. I don't believe that I exceeded about 35 mph anywhere ... Read More

New Mercedes owner report - 2004 c240 4matic wagon. With Sunroof and CD player. I've driven it about 800 miles, mostly city. Overall MPG is 18.5 so far. 25 MPG for pure highway driving. I drive with ski/bike rack on the roof (yakima) so that may be causing a bit of drag at higher speeds. Have seen some posts suggesting mileage improves a bit after several thousand miles. Interior is leather ... Read More

  • Why buy a new Mercedes?

Written by: johngenx on Nov 7, 2003 7:18:49 AM

There is lots of discussion of W202 owners that are trading or selling their cars to buy a new MB, sometimes a C-Class, or whatever. The main reason seems to be to have a car that is under warranty. I have a 1998 C230 with just shy of 160,000 km's (100K-miles)on the odo. If I were to trade the car in, I would probably be at a trade value of about ... Read More

Well as a follow up to a bad experience, after my wife returned her car to Mercedes of Annapolis for repair, they discovered a faulty wiring harness. Considering what's involved in replacing the primary wiring harness she told the dealer she didn't want the car. They agreed to let her use the loaner she had until her car was repaired. She would then drive that car until a new one was ... Read More

News Industry know-it-alls see revised cosmetics and a few new features for the 2004 C-Class. A full redesign is reportedly on for 2006. By that time, though, Mercedes should be selling a smaller car called A-Class, which has been available in Europe for several years but never officially imported here. We'll be getting a redesigned A-Class, though it's expected to be another high-profile "one-box" 4-dr hatchback with small 4-cyl engines driving ... Read More

Question is related to "when" for W203 C Class purchase; info I've found to date indicates W204 will come along in 2007 or so. So one could expect a mild face lift or ... Read More
