2001 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C240 4dr Sedan (2.6L 6cyl 6M)

Review

There is a reason that Mercedes-Benz has
a reputation for being one of the most
luxurious and prestigious cars built
today. Even the C-class boasts so many
features, you won't believe it's the
lowest class they manufacture. I never
mind being stuck in traffic anymore when
I'm in my C240. It just becomes a part
of you-- an extension of your own body!
The performance is outstanding, and you
won't feel safer in any other car.

Best Features

You name it: Rear window sunshade, rain sensor, speed sensitive volume on Bose soundsystem, built-in ski sack, very powerful V6 engine... I LOVE that you never have to take your hands off the wheel for anything!

Worst Features

I really can't think of one thing they could have improved upon in the C240. For the money, you can't go wrong. It really is worth every penny!

2001 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C320 4dr Sedan (3.2L 6cyl 5A)

Review

Overall, I like the car. However, I had
to return it to the dealership 7=8
times for various problems (primarily
electrical in nature). To the
dealerships credit, they addressed all
the problems promptly and efficiently.
I must reserve final judgment on this
car after attaining >100K miles.

Best Features

Smooth, powerful engine and handling.

Worst Features

The digital read-out is too difficult to see in bright light. Bring back analog instrumentation including an oil pressure gauge. Simplify AC/heater controls. Eliminate brake dust from collecting on the front wheels.

2001 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C320 4dr Sedan (3.2L 6cyl 5A)

Review

After 27k miles, I haven't had any
problems.

The C320 has lots of power when you
need it and drives very smoothly. I
got the sport package and the car
handles very well around the turns.

Best Features

Excellent performance and handling, the auto/manual shift, Bose sound system, the pop up truck on the key chain and the memory seat/mirror settings.

Worst Features

My only issues with the car are 1) The rear side mirrors are too small. 2) The A/C is a bit complex. 3) Clear lens headlights would be nice.

2001 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C320 4dr Sedan (3.2L 6cyl 5A)

Review

Leased it in 11/2000 and purchased at
lease-end. Few problems; but ALL cars
have problems, ALL of them! I have
the sport package with xenons, phone,
CD changer and it is an awesome ride
especially in light of the hands-free
laws in certain states. Would I buy
another? Yes! But not where I got
this one.

Best Features

Integrated phone, xenon headlights, wheels (sport pkg), no-charge scheduled maintenance.

Worst Features

Service in the 'burbs north of Boston sucks because of the Herb Chambers monopoly; and I mean SUCKS. C-class should come pre-wired for phone & CD changer!!! Dealer install $$ is thievery. Dealer R/O avgs should not dictate repairs; broken/worn-out parts should.

2001 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C240 4dr Sedan (2.6L 6cyl 6M)

Review

I am very fond of German cars, but my
experience with the '01 C240 has been
a disappointment. This car has spent
more time at the dealership than all
my previous Benz's (3) and BMW's (5)
combined. The dealership has been
wonderful and most problems have been
covered under waranty. However, it is
a hassel finding the time to take car
to dealer for repairs. My '99 C230
has been much more dependable. The
only time it has seen the dealer is
for routine maintance. If you want to
drive a "Baby Benz", do yourself a
favor and find late model W202 (older
C Class)and save yourself alot of
trouble and money.

Best Features

Exterior styling and comfort

Worst Features

Improve electrical systems, fit and finish of interior trim.
