My choice was between the C240 4matic and the BMW 325Xi. The BMW was more responsive and "fun to drive". However the Mercedes can be had $2000 cheaper because the 2005 325 Xi cars are almost sold out and the MB dealers are stuck with lots of 240 4matics. Looked at the Infiniti too - economical, powerful, reliable and... ugly. I ended up buying the BMW.

I have an 01' C320. I live in New Jersey which requires State Inspection. I recently had my car transported from another state and the shipper is only responsible for $250 in damage with $100 deductible. Glad your Benz is back...
...and you're right, it is a little rocket! I think that MB is usually conservative in its 0-60 runs. I remember reading somewhere on this site about 4 years ago that the C230 was quicker than any of the V6 MB's up until about 80 MPH. Don't know if that's true, but my 2000 230 does seem to "come alive in the 60-90 MPH range. Happy motoring!

I am sure everyone knows all this, but I did not. I spoke to a tech at Mobil 1. He told me that my 320 should have 0-40 and this is what it had at delivery. ...and ad in today's Washington Post (Business section) by a local Lexus dealer which said "Respectfully discounting our entire inventory." Before buying my 2000 C, I do know that ES 300's, at least, were regularly discounted. FYI, the C-class was launched in Germany in the Spring of 2000, I think (Tarik may correct me on this), so you at least you all weren't the Alpha testers :-) The last I heard though, MB reported that those C-classes have better than average (new) Mercedes-Benz reliability. I keep reading about rocking seats in the C. My understanding is that this may be part of the design. There are two small coil springs at the lower rear of the front seats. These have given rise to squeaks in at least one press test vehicle (a French road test I've seen).
