Phantom asr issues

I've had 6 different Mercedes cars including new, this is my first "S" Class. I've been chasing a phantom ASR issue with this car since day one. Very high service costs, even at an independent and brutally bad gas mileage (<12) make this car better suited for the demo derby.

Love it!

Vehicle: 1992 Mercedes-Benz 400-Class 400E 4dr Sedan

I've always had a Honda or Toyota so I didn't think I'd fall for another model, but I love this Mercedes. Although it is 17 years old, you would never know it. The appearance is timeless!

Vehicle: 1992 Mercedes-Benz 400-Class 400SE 4dr Sedan

Still rides and looks brand new. Very nice ride . Low score is fuel mileage. Only gets 10-16 mpg. Transmission slips between first and 2nd. Has 200k on it. Great auto for 16 years old.

Happy owner

Vehicle: 1992 Mercedes-Benz 400-Class 400E 4dr Sedan

Bought it used from a dealer with 35,000 miles. I've been happy with the thing since we started. Keep V rated tires on it for intended performance. Now it cost about $2,000/yr in maintenance, but that's cheaper than a new one. The power is great and handling supurb.

Going for 200k

Vehicle: 1992 Mercedes-Benz 400-Class 400E 4dr Sedan

To pay $19k for a car that was over 60k and get over 5 yrs and 100k - with about $5k total in maintenence is a good deal. Still runs like a champ at 184,500 miles - you gotta take care of it.

What's New for 1992

A new model is introduced to the lineup of midsize Mercedes: the 400E. It offers V8 power, a first in this line of cars, and comes standard with an automatic transmission. Dual airbags are now standard on these pricey sedans, as are neat features like traction control, a five-speed automatic transmission, heated front seats, double paned side-windows, and a self-leveling system.
