Traded a Sable wagon for the Tribute and couldn't be more pleased. With three kids age 8 to 15, we were concerned about the middle seat. Not a problem at all. Excellent rear seat room, good cargo space, and the mileage has been adequate at 18.5 mpg for in town driving. When you first look at the Tribute, it seems very small on the outside, but it is somehow packaged just right to provide maximum inside space, and the trim exterior helps make this car an absolute blast to drive. It really does have the soul of a sports car.
The premium sound system is tuned perfectly to this vehicle. It sounds even better than the Mach system in the Sable. The standard cloth is very comfortable and the ladies in the family like it much better than leather. Excellent interior and cargo room. Zoom-zoom is very real.
The heater has a nasty habit of baking the drivers right foot, which is annoying. It is quite unusual, but I had the exact same complaint with my last Mazda, a 1987 B2000 truck purchased new. Offer a recline feature for the rear seat. Put a lock on the shifter so it cannot be bumped out of drive.
