Great compact SUV although it has a ton
of room inside for its size. I did a
fair amount of research on available
compact SUVs prior to buying. The
Tribute offered the best of both worlds
from great car like handling on the
road and good capability in marginal
conditions. The Tribute is a joy to
drive and its size lets you get in and
out of spaces you would never venture
in a mid to full size SUV. Very safe
vehicle as attested to my insurance
cost decreasing $60 a year even though
I went from a 2000 model year vehicle
to a 2005.
Sportiness and handling - fun to
drive. In addition the latest 2005
upgrades (center shift, 4 wheel disc
brakes, etc) are nice. Generous back
seat room. Excellent sound system for
the price (I have optional one).
OEM tires are not the greatest match on
this vehicle. I changed to Michelin
Cross Terrains and the ride improved as
well as noise levels dropping. Amazing
what a set of tires can do. A lot of
folks are critical of the gas mileage
however remember it is still an SUV.
