DO NOT BUY THIS CAR!!!! The engine on the 2004 through 2006 RX8 WILL burn up!! It's only a matter of time. Unfortunately, mine imploded at 115,000 miles (after the 100,000 warranty limit) and serviced at the dealership had ALL my records and drove the car with care. Mazda would NOT honor 4206-F titled "Engine Lack of Power" warranty issued October 24, 2008. I complained several times that the car "lost ... Read More
I just bought a 2007 RX-8 AT with 53,000 miles. I was reading the discussions about what oil to use, so I checked the sticker from the last oil change (which I believe was just done by the used car dealer i purchased it from) and it says 10w 30 was used. I don't know much about the differences in oil so I was wondering if I should get it changed ... Read More
My 2007 AT RX-8's best mileage was its latest fillup, 303 miles took 11.2 gallons = 27 mpg. :) This was from a daily commute of 30% suburban 10% urban and 60% traffic-jammed highway. The car just turned 7000 miles and has been averaging 25 mpg on this same commute, but I recently changed the engine oil from 15W-50 to 5W-40 which feels noticeably better (peppier). I keep the tires at ... Read More
If you haven't heard, ALL 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 RX-8s now have a 8 year/100,000 mile warranty on the Rotary Engine (housing and core), whether bought new or used, or in the U.S. of Canada. Mazda steps up to the plate and shows customer support once again. If you paid for past repairs that PREVIOUSLY out of warranty, you will be reimbursed for covered claims. http://www.leftlanenews.com/mazda-to-extend-warranty-on-rx-8-engines.html Kudos, Mazda! :D ... Car_man (or others): Can you give me the lease factors from Mazda Finance for a 2007 RX-8 Grand Touring trim, 12K miles/yr. Looking for 36 or 39 months, but if there's a better term option I'm open. This would be in the Baltimore MD area if that matters. Dealer is offering $3000 below invoice, which I'm assuming includes part of his holdback since the customer cash from Mazda seems to be ... I own both an 05 S2000 and an 05 RX-8 (6 speed). I just came back from a trip to the mountains in the S, over 30mpg on the highway (all top down) and 26-29 mpg driving around the mountains (all top down). I get 24 mpg commuting to work (mostly all top down). My RX-8 with the latest recalls and computer flash gets 14-15 mpg commuting (same route as the ... Read More

Anyone know the terms of the current Mazda lease promotion? Specifically, I'm looking to determine the residual % (for 15k) and the money factor to negotiate my own deal. If I knew either the capitalized cost for Mazda advertised deal below I can calculate the money factor. 2007 RX-8 Sport MT $329/Month, 36-Month Lease, $2,329 due at Lease Signing after $1,500 cash back. Includes 1st Month's Payment. Excludes taxes, title and ... Read More
Hi anijhaw. This car's residual values vary by trim level and by mileage allowance. For now I will assume that you are interested in the 2007 RX-8 Touring with 15,000 miles per year. Let me know if you want something different. Mazda Credit's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 48 month lease of a 2007 Mazda RX-8 Touring with 15,000 miles per year are .00244 and ... Read More
I have a 2006 rx8 loaded that came with the keyless entry system and the alarm shock senser upgrade. It works fine with mine, the only thing I can say about it is that it is a bit sensitive when a big truck drives by and sets it off. other that that works as it should. My rx8 is only 6 weeks old and it has a lot of rattles and ... Read More
A coupel of weeks ago I purchased a 2007 RX-8 Grand Touring. It comes standard with the keyless entry system. According to the Mazda website, and the printed brochure, there is a shock sensor add-in to the alarm that will add the detection of broken windows to the alarm. The day I purchased my car I ordered this part. When it came in they had problems, and told me that the ... Read More
Hi - Since this is a discussion for the RX-8 you probably want to ask your question in the Mazda MDX Prices Paid Buying & Leasing discussion. I moved your post there where it can be answered.
I read in the Mazda 3 forum that Mazda is releasing a product that will let you connect your ipod to the factory stereo (and keep the use of the steering wheel audio controls). Will this product be compatible with 07 RX8's??
Any speculation as to whether or not Mazda will have special pricing incentives on the 2006 RX-8 since it is coming out so late? I would think that with the 2007's hot on their tail they will want to move their stock quickly.
They are not actually "skipping" 2006. The delays (mostly because of the high orders for Mazda 6s - made on the same line and selling better with better margins than the RX-8) have pushed the 2006 RX-8s into the time frame that they can call them 2007s. They will still be made in 2006, will look like 2006s, but will be labled 2007s. It will make it "safer" for a dealer ... Read More
Thanks for the update bunnygirl. I have decided to wait on the new model - I want the 6-spd AT and have decided to just go for it and order exactly what I want for once. My local dealer is also quoting $400 over invoice for the Costco program, but isn't ordering cars since they don't know the prices for them yet. He did tell me that the Mazda rep at ... Read More
The Honda Fit and a couple of other small cars are going to come over this coming up year and next, and the Mini is due for a total restyling for 2007, which is likely to kill the value of the older ones(something's got to eventually give). http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymodel/2006_Mazda_RX-8.shtml That's the specs for the 6-speed automatic. 18/25. I suspect that while it's only 1mpg better than the 2005, in practice, it will ... Read More
"considering that RX-8 only weights around 2800lbs" Source? When I was asking about weight a few months ago, people were citing 3000lbs curb weight. 2800lbs/250hp is very attractive. As for the weigh issue, I'd be with mikemajesty, etc., on wondering why it matters if the RX-8 were priced in the low to mid $20s as a direct competitor to cars like the RSX-S and WRX. But, if it's really starting at ... Read More
