One word - Zaino. Best thing you can do for preserving your paint and leather. As for airfrance777, the tires are "summer performance tires". They have almost no traction on cold roads and are dangerous on snow and ice. Plan for winter tires. I believe the RX-8 pre-2006 AT is derived from the Mazda mini-van and if so it should handle the extra torque (torque is the only thing you really have to worry about - the extra HP will heat up the transmission more but you can deal with that with a transmission cooler). Any speculation as to whether or not Mazda will have special pricing incentives on the 2006 RX-8 since it is coming out so late? I would think that with the 2007's hot on their tail they will want to move their stock quickly.

They are not actually "skipping" 2006. The delays (mostly because of the high orders for Mazda 6s - made on the same line and selling better with better margins than the RX-8) have pushed the 2006 RX-8s into the time frame that they can call them 2007s. They will still be made in 2006, will look like 2006s, but will be labled 2007s. It will make it "safer" for a dealer ... Read More

I know the Shinka has been displayed as an 07 although according to MNAO (Mazda North American Operations) it is supposed to be for the 2006 model year. on dealers. ;) There is now a picture posted on the RX-8 Club site of the 2006 six speed automatic shown at Sevenstock. It's the new grey colour. You can just see the 6 port engine in the pic. Now if we can just get them (Mazda) to develop a 9000 RPM torque converter...

There's a 6 speed AT with 212HP for 2006 over the 4 speed AT with 197HP. There's also a new bluish green color call Phantom Blue, which if it's the same Phantom Blue as I saw on the Mazda 5, is a big yuck in my little book. You're making a great choice! Be sure that if you're financing via Mazda North American Credit, that you do get that $1000 rebate. All rebates can be applied on top of S-Plan. Hopefully Mazda will fix the 8 for the slushbox set, since in its current build (4 speeds, less power) I would not recommend it. I would not recommend getting an underpowered car with the intention of trying to boost it to acceptable levels of power. I would think that is a road to disappointment.
