2002 Mazda MX-5 Miata LS 2dr Roadster (1.8L 4cyl 5M)

Review

2nd Miata I've bought new. M1 (90-97) is a classic headturner, but M2 ('99+) is more comfortable. Either way, it's maximum bang for your buck. Skip the low profile rims/tires, though. They look cool, but handling is negatively affected even if tire pressure is only off by only a pound or two. (N.B.: Recommended only as a 2nd vehicle due to small cargo capacity and 2-passenger seating.)

Favorite Features

Ride & handling, great gas mileage. Easy to own & maintain.

Suggested Improvements

1) Lose the low-profile tires/rims. They're too sensitive to any slight change in tire pressure. 2) Make the brake rotors rust-proof. They look awful through the wheel rims. 3) Make the 6 speed a TRUE overdrive instead of jamming 6 gears into the same gear ratio range as the 5 spd.
