2003 Mazda MPV LX 4dr Minivan (3.0L 6cyl 5A)

Review

Excellent handling, cornering, a lot of power (0-60mph est. 8.2 sec.), stopping is tight, body style is great for a minivan (even look better in person than photo), a lot of room for 7 people, or 4 people with bikes, I love it, nice to drive and cruise around town, easy to park, very good value!

Best Features

GFX package for sporty appearance, 17 inch alloys, nice tires, cornering, powerful engine (IT REALLY ZOOMS!!) Nice "thrumbing-down" third-row seat. Electronic socket. DVD system. Stereo with subwoofer.

Worst Features

Add a spoiler, HID headlights, sun visors for the sides of the front driver and passenger, not just one visor for each.

2003 Mazda MPV ES 4dr Minivan (3.0L 6cyl 5A)

Review

It is fun safe, and spaces the kids out well to eliminate fighting! Manuvers great, love the looks, upohlstery is like a luxury car! I had Toyota's for a long time, and they kept getting cheaper, and breaking. So glad I investigated vans on this site and others for 6 months, and choose this one. The paint doesn't come off from bugs like all the Toyotas, and the ride is smooth

Best Features

Interior quality. Keyless remote works far away. Needed the panic botton in the middle of the night,& it scared people. Windshield doesn't fog up like other vehicles. Car seat is held really tight,& isn't in the way. Love radio steering controls,& everything about it.

Worst Features

The gas tank opens where the slidding door is, and could be dangerous when pumping gas, but the other vans have this problem too. The center console flips shut easy, and it isn't safe to keep a drink on it. I would buy this van again in a heartbeat!!!

2003 Mazda MPV LX-SV 4dr Minivan (3.0L 6cyl 5A)

Review

I hated thinking of spending $23- $28k for a Sienna or Odyssey (SUV's with room are even higher) ! Found a great "in-between" bargain in the MPV. It is definitely smaller than your standard minivan on the outside but inside I was amazed how much it had to offer . Even in their base SV model you get ABS, disappearing 3rd seat, sliding side by side captains chairs, stereo control on the steering wheel, etc, etc ! What really swung me over were 2 things. 1) You can get this car for under 20k. and 2) They beefed up the engine to 200hp and it is smooth as silk. We took it on a 10 hour trip to Maine 2 days after we bought it and realized this was a great choice.

Best Features

Disappearing 3rd seat. Tons of headroom, sliding middle seats (bucket to bench), ABS standard.

Worst Features

Gas mileage about 21-23mpg on the trip to Maine, fully loaded with AC running would have like to have seen 25+ given the smaller size and stronger engine.

Review

We wanted first to get a used Odyssey, but discovered MPV. We did the research and decided to get it. Drives like a normal car (actually words of our friend who had driven it, she drives VW Golf ; -) ). Enough power, it might downshift more often when going uphill vhen loaded, but it still has enough power not to lag behiond traffic. Easy parking with it's smaller size. Have a 8k on the van now and except for that fog light recall we had no problems.

Best Features

power sliding door, compact size for parking, fold down 3rd row seat, slide by side second row seat, roll down windows in sliding doors, good handling

Worst Features

have the sklide by side in the second row on both sides, power lift gate, integrated head rests in third row for easier fold down
