Mazda MPV Transmission Problems

  • Re: changedtheir mind..not transmission [brown26]

If an MPV bucks at idle, it is very likely due to a major vacuum leak in the PCV hose that attaches the back of the intake manifold under the cowl. The hose makes a right angle bend (down toward the ground) immediately after exiting the intake manifold. The hose is a common point of value in all 2000-2006 Mazdas but the OE hose in 2002-2003 MPVs was particularly prone to ... Read More

The intake gasket is totally reusable, I would do all 6 for $100 plus parts, all 6 should be no more than 3 hours lbr at the dealer. It failed, so the engine comp can't sense the RPMs, so the engine shut down. Not sure if that is your problem. Good Luck

The blinking CEL indicates a engine misfire in 1 or more cylinders, when it is just on steady, it indicates an emission related code, which could be just a result of the misfire. Hard to say which coil is bad, could be more than 1. They aren't cheap to replace at the dealer, not terribly hard to DIY if you search for instructions. ... Read More

I checked the inflation this morning and found the fronts to be at 30 psi. I'll add another 5 psi. If anything is wrong with the suspension, it must be a very slight camber issue with the front left wheel. The outside is only slightly more worn than the inside. No tires are cupped or unusually worn on one side.

I've got 27,000 on my OEM Dunlops, which probably have another 5,000- 8,000 miles on them. Since both sets of tires you've owned have worn prematurely, I'd say there is something wrong with your vans suspension... or your driving habits, properly inflated.

I felt that the TRZ is a little soft so the handling is not as good as the OEM tires. The deep tire tread and wide gaps between the tracks can easily pick up little rocks from the road. I picked it because the reviews were good, and I thought the OEM was too stiff for the ride.
