I have had many instances of my Mazda MPV 1997 model not being able to start. Have had to have it towed in several times and by the time it got to the garage it started just fine. Have replaced everything but the computer and still no luck. However, we were finally told to add upper cylinder cleaner to the gas tank and run a tank of high octane gas every third time or so. ... I just finished ordering my 2004 GX. The final bill came to $31670. Got the convenience package - A/C, rear heat, cruise, power everything (except sliding doors), keyless entry, remote starter, alloy wheels etc etc. Got the dealer to throw in mud flaps, block heater, and under-coating for free. We just purchased (Nov 03) a new 2003 MPV ES with Towing Package replacing a 1997 Dodge Caravan Sport, also purchased new (problem free except a/c compressor needed replacing just 30 days after expiry of warranty, urrghh! I just bought my MPV LX 2002 - midnight blue - with rear a/c, floor mats, roof racks. Got about $2500 off from below invoice. I actually wanted COASTAL BLUE color but I had been looking for over a month ... and they were either ES or LX with spoiler and no rear-a/c. 1. Rutger, Lord, you need to chill out. The MPV is a great car. IF you paid, say, $3,000 less for it than you would have for a Sienna, that's about $60/month in payments (on a 5-year loan, assuming that you don't have a special financing deal)--and I don't believe for a minute that you can buy a comparably equipped Sienna for less than $4 to 5,000 more, so this is a conservative ... I've had a couple of Contours with Duratecs, including my current SVT Contour (200 HP 2.5L Duratec.) This is a Ford designed engine.
