For flat folding third row seats, here's somewhat of a guide. These minivans have it: 1995-2006 Honda Odyssey 1999(?)-2006 Mazda MPV 2004-2006 Toyota Sienna 2004-2006 Nissan Quest (fold flat second row too) 2004-2006 Ford Freestar/Mercury Monterey 2005-2006 Dodge Grand Caravan (not sure if the 04's had it, but I think they had an early 05 run starting in Feb 04) The current GM vans (2005-present) have fold flat seats, but those ... So, you had that creeking sound in your steering too! I've had it in my 2003 and seen it from several people on this thread too! Very disturbing and my MN. dealer stated the same thing; Mazda corporate has no fix = NORMAL! $30K for a piece of junk that has more problems with no fixes than my 1995 Dodge Caravan had!!! At least they had fixes for their problems...Mazda has ... Read More

What is happening is this....all 4 brakes are locking up the wheels....whether I drive the vehicle or not....but at night when the outside temperature cools down....all 4 brakes unlock & the wheels all spin freely!. I've had the MPV up on ... Read More

Would it be OK if I compared a '96 MPV to a '04 Sienna then? That is what you are doing when you are comparing a 2000 Elantra to current models--the car debuted in 1995. The thing about Hyundai (and Kia) to keep in mind is that they have made huge strides in just the past few years. As for people who trash their cars in a year, yes, I've seen ... Read More

I just bought my MPV LX 2002 - midnight blue - with rear a/c, floor mats, roof racks. Got about $2500 off from below invoice. I actually wanted COASTAL BLUE color but I had been looking for over a month ... and they were either ES or LX with spoiler and no rear-a/c. 1. My concern is - if I had a transmission cooler, would that affect the warranty ? I ... Read More

  • Transmission housing corrosion

    Written by: toddn1 on Nov 14, 2000 5:45:02 PM

I own a 1995 MPV 4WD and the transmission housing corroded where it sits on the cross-member and broke away. This was due to the contact of the cast aluminum housing with the steel cross-member. It cost $902.00 to repair. Has anyone had a similar problem and received any satisfaction from Mazda?

I admire all the time and research you guys have put into getting your MPVs. We bought one last week after some whirlwind shopping and research. My 1995 Dodge Caravan (just back from shop with a radiator problem I did fix and an oil leak I did not) started having electrical problems and that was it for us. It had 104,000 miles on it. We needed a reliable kid-hauler car. We ... Read More
