Personally, I'd pass on that car. If it has gotten to the point of the CEL flashing, it's hard to tell really what's wrong with it. There is driveability issues at that point - most likely. Plus, with that mileage, it's a pretty risky vehicle because of so many other items that could soon fail. Heck, even with half of that mileage, I'd still caution the purchase since the parts are ... If when you hit the gas it revs up but do not respond by accelerating then it seems like a timing belt problem. I take issue with the "Don't Buy A Millenia" statement of the poster before you. Sure, maybe the "S" has problems, but not the the non-Superchgarged version. In fact the 2.5l engine is critically acclaimed as one of the best V6's ever made. My '95 Millenia just turned 170K. your'e comparing to a Millenia "P" and there, I agree, there is no comparison, think "S".....you never, although, mentioned anything about interior noise intrusion???...hmmm..wonder why??? Now, I'm not a Mazda enthusiast by any means, but am simply killing time with my 2000 S before my, (dealer held), RX-8 arrives next year. So I'm curious to know if when that arrives all you Maxima power nuts still going to say the Maxima ... Read More
fredvh, you can get a brand new Millenia P for about $21700 up to $23000 depending on wheater or not you get the 4-season pckg, Bose 9speaker audio and/or in-dash 6CD changer. Go to carsdirect.com and lookup their price, print it out and bring it to any mazda dealership and have them price match it. Gas mileage is about 20mpg city driving. As for quality, the first year model '95 have ... Read More
chesterz, I own a 2000 Millenia S, now with almost 45K miles on it. I replaced the original's 17" tires at around 36K miles. Please remember that this is a low profile 50 series tires that wouldn't have last long anyway. The same would probably applies to any cars with similar tire size as yours; like Acura TL TypeS and BMW 330i, but 29K miles seems pretty low. What kinds of ... Read More
fwatson, remember saxonii? banned and re-incarnated ? :-) Anyway, my 2000 Millenia S now has over 44000 trouble free miles. The more I drive the more I love this car. I'm going to keep my car until it dies; hoping to get 250,000 miles (yes, it's possible to get 250,000 miles out of a Mazda). I have a co-worker who's still driving his '90 626 hatchback with about 243K miles on ... Read More
WalMart has Fram Sure Drain oil plugs available, They don't list one for my 2001 Millenia 2.5L, but they do list the 2000 Millenia with that engine. Now to the point. Can anyone here tell me if Mazda changed the oil drain plug size from 2000 to 2001? I can't see why they would have, as it is the same identical engine. I'm just trying to confirm my suspicion that the ... Read More
in comparing the 1986 Mercury Grand Marquis with the 2000 Mazda Millenia S?? It sure would make for a great comparison...LOL :-)...j/k
I bought my Milleniaum Edition new and love it, except for the HVAC control...it seems to have none. Most of the time the automatic control heats the cabin up too much. When on automatic, it only puts out to the feet, and they quickly bake. Selecting defrost only bakes your forehead. Selecting windshield and feet, or vent positon, gives thermostatic control.. sometimes. Many trips to dealer haven't fixed it; he says ... Read More
I definitely agree with obioha1....there certainly is an antiroll kit for the Millenia S (at least I KNOW there is for the 2000 S), also BOTH Eibach and HR make a lowering kit for the S. I have spoken with one other Millenia owner who has the anti-roll and he said it is now a *much* better handling car (he also had the HR springs). Here is the "tirerack" url. Goodluck! ... Read More
maltb: "Ever read a review done by a major publication about the Millenia?" Yes I have. I researched the Millenia and several other cars thoroughly. I have printouts of many tests, as well as frequency of repair reports. The result of all of them is that the Millenia has been excellent, but a very well kept secret. After all the research, test drives of several brands, and dealer experiences, I made ... Read More
I too, was disappointed in the 2.5L gas mileage (18-19mpg in city) when I first purchased my 2000 Millenia. I had previously owned a Ford Probe GT with the same Mazda 2.5L engine and routinely got 22 mpg in the same driving habits. I know the Millenia is heavier, so I was not expecting that high; however I was still a bit surprised at my results. What I did learn after ... Read More
Millenia is cheaper and not smaller than TL. do not compare MSRP, compare how much dealers are selling these two cars for. Millenia S for about $25.5K and TL for about $27.5K. Also, they're about the same size, with TL bigger in front shoulder and knee room and Millenia bigger in the rear head and knee room. I'm 6" and I barely clear the TL's rear headliner; not in the Millenia; ... Read More
billyperks, I personally love the A6 2.7T. I test drove this car before I bought my 2000 Millenia and it's definitely a better car; much more expensive though and in a different class, so can't really compare the two together. It's quick, handles well, quiet and classy styling. Now that the 2002 is out, with the many improvements it got, it would be my choice compare to the other cars you ... Read More
I know how sad most of us Millenia owners knowing that Mazda is probably gonna drop the Millenia model after this one, but don't be too sad ppl; check this out. Mazda's replacement for the 626 is going upmarket a bit and it's gonna be called "Mazda 6". With 3.0V6 Duratec (mazda built I think, since it's gonna have VVT-i from mazda)and it'll have 219HP compared to Ford's 200HP). The base ... Read More
I just got back from a 2900 mile vacation trip, mostly interstate, running at 70 to 80 MPH. Before leaving, I put 800 local miles on my new 2001 Millenia P to get it broken in before subjecting it to that much highway running. My old car is a 1995 Olds 88, and there is a noticably firmer ride with the Mazda, but it is pleasant, very well damped, and quieter ... Read More
I love my 2000 Millenia S, but some of the new feature/improvements Mazda made to the 2001 model makes me go crazy. For sure I will upgrade my Millenia's tailight assembly with the 2001's tail lights along with the center lic plate holder panel. This will cost me about $1400; that's after a 10% discount at a Mazda dealer. Does anyone know a cheaper place to buy Mazda parts? I'll probably ... Read More
Congrats on the new Millenia; love the new Millenia looks and improvements, hope I can upgrade my 2000 Millenia S to a 2001 model. BTW, our other car is a Mazda Protege too, but it's the 2002 Protege5; so we both own a Millenia and a Protege; very cool. what color is your Protege?. My Protege5 is black and my Millenia is black/grey (two-tone). Love both cars, but me and my ... Read More
My Milennia is a P, not an S. And is also brand new with only 520 miles so far. Therefore I can't speak from much experience, except to say the car seems flawless in every respect. I think this is the best kept automobile secret in the world. I did extensive research before buying the Mazda, and everything I find ranks it at the very top in reliability, fit and finish, ...
