Ok, I was a jeep guy, but it was time for a change. So I bought this mazda. I love it, really do. Sport mode gives the extra oomph. The paddle shifters are not too bad; start off the car on 1st, instead of the 2nd gear on automatic. This allows for a more quicker acceleration. My gripe after 2000 miles is the paint job, it's very easy to chip.... And the touch up paint doesn't match very well at all. But hey, this is a cool car, and compared to the jeep, it's a different beast, and that is a good thing. I've driven Luxry cars, and this feels Luxry. Peace!

Review

I have owned my 2015 Mazda 6 for about a year now. The exterior design and color (platinum silver) are stunning but the 4 cylinder engine woefully lacks the get-up-go you would expect in a car that looks this good. Recommend that Mazda offer a 4 cylinder turbo and/or V6 option in future models since that lack of power is a major disappointment. It also looks like the Mazda design engineers were going too much for the German "austere" stripped-down interior look in the 2015 model which is a major step backward from the previous 2013 Mazda 6 that I owned. This is a Japanese car so it is supposed to have a flashy interior with a highly illuminated instrument panel that sets it apart from its boring German counterparts. Bottom line: this is a great looking car with an underwhelming power train and boring dash board instrumentation - jazz these 2 things up a bit and you'll have customers buying a Mazda 6 instead of a BMW 5 or Mercedes E series.

mazda had a large number of complaints about the upgraded stereo, there was even an online petition about how bad this head unit was maybe the petition was turned off after 4000 signers, They stuck it right back into the 2015 model same problems. The thing is so bad that the unit is no longer in the 2016. I Have to crank my neck so much just to get into it , I how had a sore neck constantly. The AC vents for the driver are so badly placed that they are great at cooling your left wrist and right forearm but can't hit your face. They have also changed that on the 2016. The Ac unit is only so-so in the Arizona desert it can take 10 miles of driving to really feel like the car is cooling down.

I've had my 6 for 10K miles and am pretty satisfied so far. The car handles great with flat cornering and electric steering that could pass for a decent hydraulic unit. The acceleration is a bit lethargic off the line, but it has a sweet spot that allows good passing once past 20-30 mph. Beautiful design inside and out and Mazda provides allot of content for the money. Fuel economy is outstanding with around 32 mpg for my commute which is 60% 75 mph highway and 40% thick traffic. Use of regular fuel is nice, also. No rattles or issues of any sort.

Best Features

Exterior design, interior design, fuel economy, handling, value, decent performance even with the automatic. Plenty of space inside and a large truck. Absolutely no issues so far.

Worst Features

Mazda trades fuel economy for performance. The engine pulls fairly hard from 3000-5500, but there is not enough torque below 3000 and the automatic always tries to start in 2nd gear to save fuel. Also, engine is a bit course sounding. Ride can be stiff, which is worth it for the handling. There is above average wind noise past 70 mph or so. I might prefer a smaller, more responsive engine with a turbo, but there isn't much to improve. ALso would like to get cloth seats at this trim level vs. leatherete.
