  • Re: 2013 Acura TSX vs 2014 Mazda 6 GT [blondie1986]

Written by: igozoomzoom on May 11, 2013 10:17:49 AM

I'm helping a friend of my mom find a good deal on a new lease before the lease on her current 2010 Infiniti expires at the end of this month! We were quoted $372/mo, $0/down, 12,000 miles per year on a 2014 Mazda6 Grand Touring. FYI, Acura currently has a great lease deal on the 2013 TSX 'Base' Automatic 4-door- $0 due at lease signing, $330/month for 36 months, but just ... Read More

Mazda has a lease deal showing for each trim level of the 2013 Mazda6. For the 2013 s Grand Touring, it is shown as follows- $337/mo for 36mos $2,127 due at lease signing 12k miles per year Based on MSRP of $30,785 Includes $2700 Leasing Bonus Cash and $850 Dealer Contribution. Residual at lease end- $13,057 I've found a VERY tempting deal on a 2012 Mazda6 at one of the dealers ... Read More

That's very good news, thank you for that info! I'm curious, what was the residual value (%) after 36 months? (Assuming that your lease is for 36 months) Also, how much mileage allowance is included in your lease? 10k, 12k or 15k/yr? Or some other amount? Again, I really appreciate the info! I just bought Leasing for Dummies (no kidding) and I'm determined to learn all the ins and outs of ... Read More

Written by: igozoomzoom on Apr 29, 2013 5:43:14 PM

Heated seats are only available on the Grand Touring. I find it very odd that Mazda made "leatherette" upholstery standard on the mid-level Touring, but heated seats aren't even optional on that model. (BTW- I couldn't wait to see just how cheap-looking and feeling the "leatherette" would be, but I was very pleasantly surprised! It looks and feels more like real leather than the leather seats in my $40k Mazda CX-9 ... Read More

You're in luck, 1maz6. You are in one of the states that Mazda is running a more aggressive lease program in. Chase's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36-month lease of a 2013 Mazda6s Grand Touring with 15,000 miles per year in Pennsylvania are .00029 and 48% for consumers who qualify for its top credit tier. On NTSA site I found 10 complaints regarding 2013 Accord (5 about transmission/powertrain and 5 about engine) vs 2 complaints regarding 2013 Ford Fusion ( 1 transmission and 1 engine). Just interesting statistics. I guess people really pissed off go to NTSA website to file a formal complaint. It is also should be safety related. Link is http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov. I love both my Hyundais. :) The ten-year warranty is nice too. But I haven't had to use it much at all on my 9-year-old Elantra (which is still in warranty after all that time, imagine that!) and not yet on my 2013 Sonata. Why do you say the Accord will outrun all three? The Mazda 6i Touring Auto has been timed at 6.5 for the 0-60 and 15.5 for the quarter. The Accord was timed 6.5 and 15.7. Doesn't appear to me that the Accord outruns it. It may ourtrun the Fusion 1.6T and the Optima EX though. With that being said, most people IMO are not buying these cars becasue they are 1 ... Which Fusion powertrain are you going to test drive? The 1.6L EcoBoost (with 6-speed A/T) will be a disappointment in comparison to the Accord's 2.4L and Mazda6's 2.5L. The Mazda matches the Kia Optima's maximum torque, but reaches that peak at 3250rpm (1000rpm than the Kia), so it has some extra low-end grunt. The Accord will outrun all three of them and would be almost perfect if not for that one ... Read More

Nothing wrong with that, and I'm going to do the same. Over the last 13 years I've owned one new Ford (a 2000 Focus ZTS 5 MT), one new Mazda (a 2010 Mazda5 5MT), and two new Hondas (a ... Read More

In fact, from what I read about the CX-5 is that most testers and owners are getting at least the EPA numbers if not better. The mazda has a bunch of other tricks to up MPG. But the Altima and Accord get very good MPG while also having more HP. I believe the new Mazda6 has more HP than the Altima but gets as good of MPG.

There is no doubt that the CVT is more efficient than automatics in this class. Hmmm... the Mazda Skyactiv 6AT does pretty well for itself, e.g. 40 mpg from a 155 hp engine in the Mazda3, while the Sentra gets 39 mpg (40 with the extra cost FE+ variant) but with only 130 hp; and 38 mpg with a 189 hp engine on the Mazda6 (vs. 38 mpg with 182 hp ... So if the new Mazda6 can get 38hwy with a conventional 6spd auto, what would be a WAG MPG if they incorporated a CVT trannie. Should be substantially better I assume. On the flip side, if the Altima were using all the improvements that Mazda has come up with in their skyactiv system then the Altima would probably get substantially better MPG, again assuming.

Am I missing something? It seems all I hear is how much better the CVT is for MPG but the cars that have them don't seem to have all that much better MPG than cars with traditional torque converter trannies. Like the new Mazda6. About the same HP as the Altima and about the same MPG. But the Altima has the CVT. Shouldn't that mean a substantially better MPG than the ... Read More

Drove a 2014 Mazda6 Grand Touring today. While the exterior is gorgeous and it drove nicely, the interior is nowhere near as nice as the new Accord. The driver's seat felt hard, whereas the Accord's was really plush. Also, the Accord's center stack is much more modern looking. The nav system in the new 6 is pretty antiquated looking. Nobdody was accusing the Madza6 of being a Porsche but nobody called it underpowered either. Mazda has fixed this problem by putting the 2.5L into the 2014 CX-5 which has 20+ more hp. At this time, however, GM is doing very well and is profitable. Their bright spots are the US and China. Like everyone else in Europe (Ford included), operations there suck. Sources close to the situation report Mazda could have a mass produced hybrid here by 2012-2013. Possibly a Mazda6 Hybrid? That sure would be nice!
