Mazda gets it right
Vehicle
2010 Mazda MAZDA6 i Touring Plus 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl 5A)
Review
I turned in a 2007 Mazda6 Touring for a 2010 i Touring Plus. Mazda took criticism of the former model to heart and has produced an excellent machine. It's quieter, smoother and roomier. Beautiful exterior design sets the new Mazda6 apart from its peers. Some decontenting appears in the 2010 to hold down costs, but Mazda's compromises aren't deal-breakers. Highly recommended.
Favorite Features
More room, quieter, nice performance boost for 2.4L four. Better fit and finish.
Suggested Improvements
Reduce power steering boost. Heated seats in i Touring Plus would be worth extra cost. Halogen headlights could be whiter, brighter.

Review
I only recently purchased this car and am so far pleased. After driving a diesel for the last 4+ years, even 170 HP feels strong at highway speeds! I wasn't sure about the "Red Mica" at first, but I've grown to like it. It seems to be quiet at highway speeds and rides smoothly. I have to get used to the "Blind Spot" system. When you pass a car, or a car passes you in the adjoining lane, the yellow indicator light in the mirrors will light up. I wonder if it may cause other drivers to mistake it for a turn indicator & think you're about to change lanes on them. It will also indicate when you're driving next to concrete barriers and guard rails (sometimes).
Favorite Features
Bluetooth, Steering wheel controls, Instrument/Dash Lighting, Info display shows the phone call information (& speaks to you), key fob lowers front windows/opens moonroof (help for hot days), Leather Tilt/Tele Steering Wheel, cup holder has a lid & csn double as hidden storage.
Suggested Improvements
Doors should "auto-lock." I was surprised to find that they don't. I would prefer that the doors unlock when the interior handle is pulled without having to push the unlock button first. Maybe some "deeper" storage up front and it would be nice if the rear "pull down" section had a storage section.

Getting better all the time...
Vehicle
2010 Mazda MAZDA6 s Touring Plus 4dr Sedan (3.7L 6cyl 6A)
Review
Further to my post of Aug 23, I've now covered 1500 miles and had a longer time to evaluate this really good car. I congratulate your reviewers, as their previous comments were spot on. I got over $4250 off the price by the way. I'm getting 21.5 mpg around town and 25 on a run with clearish roads. The braking and steering is brilliant. If I have to avoid an accident, I can't think of anything I'd sooner be in then a Mazda 6. It's built in the USA too! Back seat splits and folds (Honda please copy) Runs on regular fuel (Nissan V6's please copy) Stability control standard (Nissan please copy). 215 55x17 tires are so much more sensible than the previous 45x18's (with our appalling roads)
Favorite Features
Tremendous road-holding, handling, braking. The brake pedal has great feel to it. Lovely steering with great feel too. 35 ft turning circle, so useful... Good low end torque. Man override gearbox. Space, comfort. Quality looking interior, nice cloth on the doors and soft feeling plastic.
Suggested Improvements
Claustrophobic due to styling. Cup holders need springs to stop bottles rattling around. It's a job to see the speedo when the seat and wheel is set up for me. Radio is simply awful. There's no mid- range. For this price, door mirrors should heat/fold. Unrefined for a V6 & slight wind noise .

The new car smell of tan leather in a red car is a must! WOW! The tech features are outstanding. The Bose sound system is absolutely awesome. Comfort and quietness wherever you drive is just pure satisfaction. Acceleration is great, and the gas mileage on 87 octane is great. I have no complaints, and I test drove ALL of the mid-size luxury cars and this car wins. Period. It won. The trunk space with the back seats down will easily handle our Costco and Sam's Club shopping trips. The quietness and super quality attention to details make this car a winner, no matter what luxury car you have been driving. I am extremely pleased. You will be too! Mazda's "Zoom Zoom" is infectious!!
Favorite Features
The key fob locking when in your pocket. The comfortable seats. The quality of paint and smoothness of corners and details! Just super build techniques. The quietness and solid ride! WOW! The flared front fenders with HID low beams and fog lights. This is a luxury car with performance, and affordable
Suggested Improvements
No suggestions, but plan to spend some time reading the brochures and owner's manual so you can operate all the features. I haven't mastered all of them yet! But daily I learn something.

one of the best in its class

2010 Mazda MAZDA6 i Touring Plus 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl 5A)
Review
Bought the beautiful car a month ago. Cannot say anything about the long term reliability, so it is purely a guess. Nothing breaks yet. Safety is paramount to us. Mazda6 has the best safety rating by NHTSA. This trim line also comes with a nifty blind spot motoring system. Plus a whole host of other safety features, which makes it stand out. Looks great inside and outside. Love the handling quality. In fact, eager to sit behind the wheel in this car! Ride is firm and supple. Wish it can absorb bumps little better though. The engine is a little hesitant when you really need to zoom zoom zoom on a highway entrance ramp.
Favorite Features
Blind spot monitoring system. Handling characteristics. Manual shift option. Lots of room everywhere, except you have to watch your head on the way out because of the fastback roof-line.
Suggested Improvements
1) trip meters reset every 999.9 miles, too short. Should have been 9999.9 miles instead. 2)not enough deep storage pockets in the front to store papers. 3) a rubberized trunk tray would be nice, better than the trunk mat that comes with the car.

NOT Disappointed

Review
Chose Mazda6 over Honda Accord for its 5-star crash test rating, and for its sporty handling quality. It is a big car, bigger than our Subaru Forester SUV, so still trying to get used to that. Don't know anything about its reliability, but we have been extremely happy with the purchase so far.
Favorite Features
An assortment of safety features, crashes well and costs less to fix according to NHTSA. Blind spot monitoring system adds another line of defense, LOVE it! Exterior: sexy looking all around. Interior: very spacious, so is the truck space. Takes regular gas.
Suggested Improvements
Fastback roofline has aerodynamic advantages, but it also has side effects. Your head is much more exposed if you sit in the back seat. You cannot hide, the sun bakes the back of your head! Want more storage compartments or pockets in the front. Trunk mat, hmmm, why not a rubberized trunk tray?

Even better than I expected
Vehicle
2010 Mazda MAZDA6 i Touring 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl 5A)
Review
This car looks great but handles even better. This car is very capable of making tight, fast turns and I never feel "out of control". The cloth seats are well constructed and comfortable with good support. The interior can easily accommodate 4 adults with a decent amount of leg room and the trunk space is huge. Road noise is minimal. I couldn't be happier with the purchase.
Favorite Features
Telescoping Steering Wheel, power drivers seat, MP3 and easy dashboard configuration.
Suggested Improvements
Plastic decor around dashboard looks like it could easily be broken/split.

Beautiful, fun to drive

2010 Mazda MAZDA6 i Touring Plus 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl 5A)
Review
Purchased a couple of weeks ago. Got the solid black; exterior styling most attractive on the road, kudos to the designers. Was appealing that the car, though selling well, is somewhat rare compared to the other brands, and very eye catching. The touches in the Touring Plus trim line with the leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shift really set off the inside. Interior fit and finish is excellent, very high quality look and feel. Got the 4-cyl to get better gas mileage (got 29 MPG on first tank of mostly highway), but the engine they're using is not particularly well engineered when compared to the performance of my older model 4-cyl Camry.
Favorite Features
Exterior styling very stunning. Interior feel is of high quality, comparable to luxury car brands.
Suggested Improvements
4-cyl engine a bit sluggish, struggles to smoothly accelerate (at least compared to my 4-cyl Camry), loses speed up inclines unless you really lean on the pedal. Also, it's unbelievable that the car's door locks are completely manual and don't lock when you put it in gear or reach a certain speed.

Early days, but seems a great car

2010 Mazda MAZDA6 s Touring Plus 4dr Sedan (3.7L 6cyl 6A)
Review
I've only had this car for 3 days, so early days. But first impressions rarely let me down. 2 features I prefer over the S Touring V6 model mine replaced. Wheels/tires are now 215/55/17's, instead of 45/18's. This makes more sense, as Missouri's potholes will be much more tolerant with the 17 inch wheels. The handling/roadholding/ride is tremendous. I've looked at Camrys, Accords, Fusions, Malibus and Sonatas. The Mazda, overall offers the best value. I got about $4250 off the retails price, including an above average trade in for my last car, plus a discount on the extended warranty (6 years/100,000 miles). I love the cloth seats, can't stand leather!
Favorite Features
Ride, roadholding, space, blind spot warning on door mirrors, bluetooth, quality of interior, style, performance, fun factor! Comfort. Ease of driving, steering.
Suggested Improvements
Heat the door mirrors, offer climate control as an option. I know you can have the Grand Touring, but I hate leather seats!

So far I'm very pleased with the purchase. I'm still getting used to the advanced features. I guess I simply didn't know that a car could contain this much useful technology after driving a Hyundai Santa Fe for a few years.
Favorite Features
Advanced key features, remote start, nav, Bose sound and general instrument cluster.
Suggested Improvements
Other than wishing that it was cheaper I'm fine with the package so far.
