Re: Malibu Vs Accord Vs Camry vs Sonata [captain2]
It is not just me that has seemingly written the 'new' DT off, reference that Taurus test in the February CR I referenced. Of course, since CR (a magazine that tests toasters and fabric softeners) is such an "authority" on cars. Right... This thread was seemingly started by conversations about this 'great new Mazda' 3.7, which I regard as still a DT and still a Ford ... Read More...
Re: Global Design [mz6greyghost]
Mazda is NOT spending twice the $$$$ or resources on different cars with the same name, it's the same platform, modified for the specific market. It's similar to GM selling modified Opels in the US as Saturns. Mazda6 2009 is bigger on the outside than Atenza, it is bigger on the inside than Atenza. It requires different tooling than Atenza and greater engineering ... Read More...
Re: Malibu Vs Accord Vs Camry vs Sonata [jeffyscott]
I like my Mazda6, but it is not really a "sports sedan" is it? (well, mine clearly is not...but even if it were a V6 manual, would it be?) I don't think there is anything particularly un-sporty about even the base Mazda6, and I think sportiness isn't always about power (the E36 3-series is considered sporty and power-wise it was about the same as my Contour). The problem ... Read More...
Re: 2007 Mazda6 wagon [scottinky]
Hi scottinky. Mazda is not providing lease support on 2007 models any longer. I don't even through that you could lease an '07 model through its captive finance company if you wanted to. As a result, you would have to go through an independent bank to lease this car if you could even find one that is still leasing 2007 models. I suspect that you will be better off going ... Re: Test drove a Milan w/ V-6 and Sync [zzzoom6]
Thanks for a very enjoyable review, Zzzoom6. ... I was impressed at how a few changes in the interior and suspension bits could transform a Mazda6 to meet the needs of a more mature and refined buyer. Maybe my age, 64 at the time (a more mature and refined buyer) had something to do with our decision to go with a 2007 Ford Fusion SEL AWD in December 2006. My wife was 54. ... Read More...

Re: 2009 Fusion Engine [captain2]
Going by 2007's numbers, here are the EPA's estimates for the following for 4 bangers. Honda Accord : 24-34 Nissan Altima: 26-34 Toyota Camry: 24-33 Ford Fusion: 23-31 Mazda6 : 24-31 I believe that the oldest engine design in this segment is the Fords, because they are using Mazdas 2.3L design that debuted in 2002 for the 2003 Mazda6. All of the other 4 cyl's are ... Read More...

Re: Are we done yet? [mz6greyghost]
Or it could be like how I bought my 6: Walked into a dealer with the EXACT car color/options/drivetrain that I wanted (Gray/moonroof, no leather/V6 with 5-speed manual). So you got a Base Mazda6 S with the moonroof option. This combination didn't even exist in 2007, so I guess you are lucky you got it when you did. Of course, if you use the same cost for the optional ... Read More...
