2009 Mazda6

Re: Mazda6 [jeffyscott]

Not that there is necessarily a whole lot of difference between "below average" and "average", but CR has Mazda right at average overall. See April 2008 issue, page 17 or April 2007, page 25. I agree, not much difference between first and worst. Vehicle Dependability 2008 I completely disagree with CR's sampling method (they only survey subsribers to CR) and ... Read More...

Reliability

Mazda Reliability is kinda a hard thing to really get a grasp on due to a couple factors. These being the type of car, and thus buyer, they attract. And second, the age. Of full car lines, Mazda has the youngest demographic of any brand. Only Scion skews slightly younger, and that's obviously not nearly as diverse a product line. Also, Mazda buyers tend to be enthusiast. ... Read More...

Re: Mazda6 [heybroder]

Mazda 4 banger's have been historically great. The 6-speed automatic tranny is built by Aisin, who also builds tranny's for Toyota and has built tranny's for Honda in the past. The 5-speed auto and 6-speed manual are built by Jatco, I think. The one minor weak point I would say is the V6 engine. However, it has had wonderful reviews and has been pretty flawless since ... Midsize Sedans 2.0

Re: Some compliments to the KIA Optima [mickeyrom]

In 2006 MAZDA had the 50/4 yr bumper to bumper and reduced that in 2007 to 36/3 yr with a 60/5yr drive train According to a leading German publication the Mazda6 is the most reliable car for the first 100,000 km Btw. 2007 Mazda6 ex-rentals (Hertz) are selling for $15-16k with 30K Read More...

Re: Some compliments to the KIA Optima [mickeyrom]

we are going way off subject Is comparing the pricing of midsize sedans is considered to be off-topic here in the midsize sedans comparison discussion? Clearly you are surprised by what the actual selling price of the Mazda6 had been, as I had postulated :) . The point being that Kia and Hyundai are not the only lower priced options in the midsize segment. The Mazda6 ... Read More...

Re: Some compliments to the KIA Optima [mickeyrom]

I think the key word in Jeffy's response was "were" on the Mazda6 pricing. He is referring to the 2008/2007s before the new Mazda6 which is what you are pricing on the Mazda web. Don't know why you would compare a newly redesigned model that just came out with no discounting to your Optima pricing. a 2008 Mazda6 equipped as he described was selling all over Chicagoland ... 2009 Mazda6

Re: Over the years... [kapaaian]

The EPA numbers prior to that were pretty accurate on Mazdas actually or at least quite a bit closer It was mainly pre-2008 epa numbers I was referring to. I have an 07 Mazda6 I4 auto and on the freeway get about 31-33 depending on how much of a hurry I'm in but usually around 65-70mph. I believe that if I were to really try for mpg I could hit 33-34 mpg at 55mph but would ... Read More...

Mazda6 Prices Paid and Buying Experience

Re: Buying brand new 2008 Mazda MAZDA6 i Sport Sedan 4D, any help [moveover]

Right around $5K off MSRP seems to have been a good but commonly available deal in many areas for the past several years. That is the about the deal I got on a 2007 Mazda6i SVE automatic back in Jan 2007 and I have since read of many getting about that deal, many paying more, and a very few doing better. Read More...
