Sorry to hear about your Mazda 6 engine. Mazda will do nothing to help you. $5400 is about what I was quoted too. I replaced mine with a used engine for $1200 + $1000 labor. I had t do it twice so far. Car is nice engine is junk and Mazda knows is and is doing nothing until people sue them. I'm a Quality Assurance Manager and I know about quality ... Read More
in the US, it'd be great. I had a 2004 Mazda6 hatchback, and it's so much more practical than the sedan. They still produce the H/B for other markets. I wish they'd sell it here.
I'm looking for a sedan. I've settled on a few key points: I want automatic (tired of shifting), leather seats, bluetooth capabilities, a 4 banger that won't use too much gas, reliable and something somewhat fun to drive. I also want to spend less than $30k, and would love to find a slightly used one if I could. What I looked at: - VW CC: best looking car of the bunch, ... Read More
You said they ruled over Mazda completely when in truth, they didn't. First off, I never said they ruled them completely. For their North American Operations, Ford had a HUGE say in how they conducted business. Second, Ford had a lot of their brass in Mazda North American Operations. That is a FACT. Coming from someone who is associated with Mazda, I would know more then you. By the way, the ... Read More
Please don't sit there and say Ford did everything. Ford would not have a Fusion if it were not for Mazda's engineering and development. I didn't say Ford did everything, you did! Jasper is REALLY expensive. I bought mine from Powertrain Products. Engine for my 2004 V6 was around $3000. If your blown engine lost any oil, it probably ended up in the front cats, which will also need to be replaced, and you might as well do the clutch while you are at it. Mazda customer service is absolutely the worst, hands down.
So, my 2004 Mazda6 3.0L engine died a week ago, at 63K miles. Diagnosis at my mechanic - rod knock/bottom end failure. There was still oil in the engine. Oil was changed regularly (typically 3-4K intervals, never more than 4.5K), with the 3rd oil change by 6200 miles. I would check it in between, but it was never more than a half quart low. So getting on the highway about 2 ... Read More
On a car with 120k miles, Mazda or Honda or whatever, anything can go at any time. I'm looking to buy a 2004 Mazda6 with 120k miles... The asking price is 5,975. . . .? I don't know to much about Mazda's.. I am a honda person. How long would I have before the transmission cuts out?
1) Engine - the Honda has a 2.4 V4, rated at 190 HP; the Mazda 2.5 V4 at 170 HP. The Honda engine is clearly reliable, being used a great deal over the years. Does anyone know if the Mazda engine is new, or an engine that has a track record of success in other vehicles? One minor correction: both engines are I-4s, not V4s. :) The 2.5L 4-cyl is basically ... Read More
I test drove the Mazda today, I liked everything but the dash, I think compared to my 2004 Mazda6 it is ugly. They should take a look at Infinitis designs. They have much better dashes. The V6 engine is scary fast, it felt faster than a G35 although at 305 vs 272 I can't imagine how it could be.
Before I got into my new Mazda6 I had been trolling around on these boards reading everyone's comments and opinions, and it helped me a lot! So I thought after having the car for about three weeks now I would give something back to the people and give you a little report. First off, I LOVE the 2009 Mazda6. My Mazda is 2004. It took them until 2007 model to get an average rating in CR. This was because they were clubbing the old piece of junk 626 reliability data with the 2003+ Mazda6.
My Mazda is 2004. It took them until 2007 model to get an average rating in CR. I know people with Nissans and Toyotas who have never had a single problem with their cars. Mazda 4 banger's have been historically great. The 6-speed automatic tranny is built by Aisin, who also builds tranny's for Toyota and has built tranny's for Honda in the past. The 5-speed auto and 6-speed manual are built by Jatco, I think. The one minor weak point I would say is the V6 engine. However, it has had wonderful reviews and has been pretty flawless since its inception in 2007 (CX-9). ... Read More

The new 6 will be here in August. So far the CX-9 has been great. The Mazda6 is also recommended by every consumer publication you can think of as well. Overall, Mazda makes a good car. Of the other Midsize Sedans, Mazda's got a winner IMO. Being a current 6 owner, I'd like to think that my tastes have matured since 2004, and so has the second-gen 6. I love the new car, and it's good enough I may trade my 2004 Mazda6 Hatch for a 2009 Hatch. My only concern is that the N. American version of the car will remove the coefficient and weight advantages the European car has, without really bumping up the horsepower in the 4cyl model.
The Mazda 6/NAV bears some similarities to Camry’s dash. Both have thin horizontal buttons on both sides of the screen. The fact is that they are logically grouped, are large and are much ... Read More
I agree, the Mazda6 hatch is a great package. I almost bought one back in 2004, but back then the discounts on the then-new hatch were almost nil, so even the 6i hatch cost a LOT more than the car I chose, an Elantra hatch (which isn't a lot smaller in usable space). I hope Mazda offers the 2009 Mazda6 as a hatch in the U.S.

The salesperson I talked with said they can't find a copy of my order. However, the car will be here in October, he said. (If they don't have a copy of my ... Read More

ramped- Like you, I want SAC/SAB but those are currently hard to find without leather, which I will not buy. This has been made much easier for 2005 with the SAB/SAC being standard on all models and trims except the base 'i' sedan model. ndec- This should be no problem for 2005, but you still gotta find one like that. Like I said before, making SAB/SAC standard on all but the ... Read More
Yesterday I bought a 2004 Mazda6 wagon, squall blue, gray interior, luxury package, sport package, Bose package, auto trans, moonroof, and SAB/SAC. MSRP (including freight) $27,740. I paid $25,073 + $200 ad fee + $200 + $99 processing; with taxes and tags the OTD price was $26,400. I think I got a bargain in the current market, and regardless I just love my new car. It's the finest automobile I've ever ... Read More
I went to my local Mazda dealer to buy a 6 today. Price quoted was $15k, for a stripped model (that still had all the 6 goodness). But a strange thing happened as I was walking thru the lot--I spied a leftover 2004 Olds Alero 5-speed coupe. My rational side took over (as always) and I landed the Alero for $12k, $3k less than the Mazda6. The Alero is NOT equal ... Read More
there is $500 customer cash, on top of any other incentives if the deal is financed thru mazda credit only. This is good for any new 2003/2004 mazda product except the miata speed...It even works with the 0%...the program is valid thru the end of the month. Mazda credit incentives are usually not renewed like mazda's regular incentives.
I also have a 2004 Mazda6s with a slight ticking sound coming from the fan.Its a very low clicking sound that seems to vary with fan speed.I also have a 2002 buick Rendezvous with the same problem.I think for now I will ignore it,unless it starts getting louder. If anyone has any Info. on it,please say.As far as a loaner car goes my Mazda dealer also uses Enterprise and I got a ... Hi all, my name is Ron and I live in Maryland. I purchased my Mazda6 s on January 24, 2004. I previously owned a 1987 Mazda 626 LX from about 1992 to 1998. I had about 145,000 miles on it when a red-light runner crashed into it and ‘totaled’ it. It was one of the more enjoyable cars I had owned until now. My replacement car for the ’87 Mazda was ... It is more accurate to compare sales numbers from year to year, not from month to month. Every car manufacturer experiences seasonal trends, so showing that seasonal trend when comparing numbers from month to month really doesn't show anything. That's why when you see publications looking at sales numbers, they look at what the Mazda6 did in January 2003 versus what it did in January 2004. That is a far more ... Read More

Some are saying "this is the end of Mazda" because of the rust. Well, for one thing, it not the entire car crumbling like some amke it out to be. Mazda is solving the problem and nobody is DYING because of it, so no need for the "mob mentality" like with Explorer tires ... Read More

Mazda has found that some of the seals were installed incorrectly and could allow gasoline fumes to exit the fuel tank and enter the ... Read More
