2012 Mazda Mazda5 Touring 4dr Minivan (2.5L 4cyl 5A)

My wife and I shopped around for a month trying to find a replacement for our aging Odyssey. Wanted better gas mileage, room for 6, and best value for the money stayng in the low to mid $20k range. We found that in the Mazda 5. Was the first we test drove and the one we bought. Considered RAV-4 with 3rd row, Sedona with 3rd row, Dodge Journey, Odyssey, Traverse, Equinox, and others.

Favorite Features

This rides comfortably like a car. It feels familiar when driving not sluggish like a SUV or minivan. Inside feels like a van and outside moves and parks like a car. This combo is fantastic. If you pay attention to your driving style, gas mileage is better than rated. It has real-time MPG display and we can manage 30+ with mixed driving.

Suggested Improvements

We love the unfolding middle seats with storage under it, wish more of the seats had that. Rear air controls are available but only offer AC, no heat. The engine power is sufficient but fully loaded on hills is more challenging - a turbo or V6 option would be nice, but I would likely stay with the 2.5l for better mpg anyways.

i wrote first review here and glad to see your review as a positive one as well!the van is so popular in Europe and shold be here, everywhere ya look u see a caravan or sienna, this thing is so much better i believe because price manuevability and sportiness, the ride Is awesome for a van and i do agree w u regard motor and storage, the touring model i believe is the best model w the sport being anything but and the grand touring tipping the scales a little, best of luck to u and yours with your 5!we r a rare but smart breed!lol!
