Perfect!
Vehicle
2007 Mazda MAZDA5 Sport 4dr Minivan (2.3L 4cyl 5M)
Review
I've owned my Mazda5 for almost 18 months and it has been flawless. The combination of a 5-speed manual, small size, cavernous interior, and incredible driving character make it an all-around perfect car. Some call it a minivan, others a hatchback, some a station wagon. I always call it an outstanding combination of space, performance, economy and yes, style. (My teenage nephews think this car is awesome. Minivan? What minivan?) What more could anyone ask for?
Favorite Features
Performance, economy, availability of manual transmission, handling and roadholding, space, comfort, features, price. Did I miss any?
Suggested Improvements
A teensy bit more power for when the car carries more than two passengers. A lighter interior color. More exterior color choices.

Great MPV, but no SUV
Vehicle
2007 Mazda MAZDA5 Grand Touring 4dr Minivan (2.3L 4cyl 4A)
Review
We read all the great reviews regarding the Mazda5, and for the most part they are correct, but we live in Edmonton, Alberta, and we traded in an 03 Explorer for the 5. It was a mistake, but at least we have a vehicle that is less expensive to own and operate. We miss the 4WD, and the SUV is much better during the winter. We feel the Mazda5 is better than minivans we owned prior. The 5's heater is lacking and there is no rear heat, the low profile tires should be changed for winter tires, the car "skwacks" over bumps when it is cold. However in the summer this vehicle is fun, it gets great fuel economy, it's practical, great to drive and easy to park.
Favorite Features
Economy and flexibilty, fun summertime driving.
Suggested Improvements
AWD option, rear heater, arm rest for passengers!! Questionable cold weather performance.

Hybrid, please

2007 Mazda MAZDA5 Sport 4dr Minivan (2.3L 4cyl 5M)
Review
I love my Mazda 5. I can't understand why Mazda doesn't market it (at all!), but it is incredibly fun to drive for a versatile wagon/van with lots of smart touches. It does miss on a couple of things - front seats don't go back far enough, gas mileage really should be better - but considering there really is no other car like it, these are minor quibbles.
Favorite Features
Handling; interior seat arrangement; tilt/telescopic steering; firm, comfortable seats; manumatic shifter for more power.
Suggested Improvements
More leg room in front; hybrid engine/better mpg.

This car is GREAT!

2007 Mazda MAZDA5 Touring 4dr Minivan (2.3L 4cyl 4A)
Review
I have a 60 mile round-trip daily commute, and a family with 2 small children; This is the ideal cross-over between an economical commuter car and a mini-van! And, while it would be nice if Mazda would tweak the motor to get another 15 hp, it performs just fine. It handles and brakes extremely well... Zoom-zoom! The interior is well planned, and the materials, fit and finish are excellent! It has a great ride, is reasonably quiet, and it even looks pretty good for a "minivan"! The touring model is also well equiped with cruise control, sunroof, side-skirts, 17" alloy wheels, 6CD changer, climate control, etc. The only "option" we added was the rear bumper step guard.
Favorite Features
1. The 4spd auto with manual mode. 2. The sliding doors. 3. Sunroof. 4. Climate control. 5. 6CD changer & stereo. 6. Instrument cluster/dashboard layout.
Suggested Improvements
A few more horsepower and this car would be almost the perfect vehicle!

Not a bad little vehicle
Vehicle
2007 Mazda MAZDA5 Grand Touring 4dr Minivan (2.3L 4cyl 4A)
Review
Have owned my 2006 auto for a little over a year now. I average about 110 miles a day in this car. Gas mileage has ranged from 27 to 33 highway, depending on speed and use of AC. I had the windows tinted. I do notice some rattles now that I have close to 30K. The road noise is excessive as well. Someone else mentioned this too that the black interior is a bear to keep clean, it shows everyting. The heater doesnt seem to pump out consistent air temp and the A/C light goes on when using the auto feature, even if it's cold out. Dont understand that logic. All in all though, you get a lot of vehicle for the price.
Favorite Features
MPG, sliding rear doors, roomy for such a small vehicle, value.
Suggested Improvements
No factory tint, no passenger or rear door arm rests. Interior color difficult to clean, heater doesnt pump out consistent temp, goes from cold to warm. Auto climate control kicks on A/C, no matter what the temperature is. A few recalls, front making a crunching noise, dealer finally fixed.

Smart can also be fun and stylish

Review
The SUV rocks. Can't bring myself to call it a minivan. It feels much more peppy than Edmunds describes. Everything about this vehicle is smart! Well laid out. My gas mileage consistently exceeds 28 mpg with only 10k miles on it. That's with the air conditioning on and outside temp for two weeks exceeding 1004 degrees. I have measured absolutely NO difference in gas mileage with or out air conditioning on. Try it and expel the myth.
Favorite Features
The entire vehicle, really. I changed the speakers in the front to better ones for $125 and the sound system now kicks!
Suggested Improvements
Add a passenger arm rest. This is absolutely crazy. This vehicle is a ten in every aspect, add a dang arm rest for crying out load. They should actually go back and offer an arm rest upgrade to every current mazda5 owner.

Nice Car

2007 Mazda MAZDA5 Touring 4dr Minivan (2.3L 4cyl 5M)
Review
We have owned the car for two weeks and it has been a pleasure to drive. First gas tank of all city driving came in at an average mpg of 23, even with some of my higher RPM start-ups. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a compromise between some of the desirable features of a minivan and a station wagon. Great value for the price.
Favorite Features
Lots of space, sliding rear seats = lots of leg room, aerodynamic design, responsive engine.
Suggested Improvements
Mazda could do a lot to add a few more options, a good place to start would be all the nice little extras on the Mazda3 5-door hatch back GT that are not offered on the Mazda5 at all. I got a great value for my money, but would have paid more for a few more of the extras.

So Much for So Little!!
Vehicle
2007 Mazda MAZDA5 Touring 4dr Minivan (2.3L 4cyl 5M)
Review
I read 100 international consumer reviews and ordered a Touring 5 speed manual without ever driving one! Sounds nuts, huh! Six months and 11K miles later, I'm crazy about this car! I love the way it looks, drives, handles, feels, and it does everything I want it to do! It's versatile, economic, comfortable, sporty, playful, peppy to safe, dependable, workhorse to elegant night out with everything in between! I thank all of you for sharing about this awesome vehicle and its high value and quality. Do get the manual transmission for the extra pep and slightly better MPG. I drive rather fast but still get a solid 27 MPG on the highway.
Favorite Features
The peppy 5 speed, styling, cargo and storage room, versatility, handling, comfort, 6 CD player, cruise control and back support adjustment.
Suggested Improvements
More readily available tire size for replacements.

Review
This automobile is very responsive, engine feels tightly tuned, brakes feels excellent, and stereo quality is very good. The only thing I would do to this vehicle to improve it is maybe add a few more horsepower, say 200 or so, otherwise this is an excellent vehicle. I like it!!.
Favorite Features
I like the stereo, the semi-automatic transmission, sliding rear doors that is so much better than the conventional doors, and the ease of getting in and out of the vehicle.
Suggested Improvements
Add a few more horsepower, maybe a V6 option.

We Love It.

Our Subaru station wagon just wasn't cutting it on comfort and size with a large carseat in the back so we were looking for a new car. We didn't feel ready for a minivan, didn't want the low gas mileage of an SUV. I was so thankful when we came across this car that we bought it almost instantly. I love the feel of it and the price is GREAT! All the other vehicles we were looking at were well beyond this range. Lots of room in the back when the seats are folded down, and comfortable 2nd row seating. The 3rd row is a little small, but it would only be for some extra in a pinch anyway. I love that we have that option. I don't understand why other car companies aren't making similar models?
Favorite Features
Suggested Improvements
Arm rest on passenger side seat. Arm rest on door in back seat.
