2013 Mazda 3 i Touring 4dr Hatchback (2.0L 4cyl 6A)
One of the main reasons I choose the Mazda is the way it handles. Good highway acceleration, holds the corners very well with very little sway. The ride is fairly quiet. Six speed AT (with manual option) shifts very smooth. Four wheel disk brakes make stopping very even and sure. Rear trunk has a removable attached cover that conveniently rises when the rear lift gate is opened and conceals everything when closed. Black cloth seats are comfortable and nicely contoured. Owner’s manual is very complete and easy to understand. Cruise control buttons have raised centers which allow me to keep my eye on the road. I'm getting about 30 MPG overall. Good safety features, insurance cost reasonable.
Outside styling: nice curves. Doors have a solid feel to them when opening and closing. Spoke wheels have a coating which makes them easy to keep clean. Driver seat adjustment combined with the telescoping and adjustable steering column allow for a perfect fit. Interior controls light up red at night and silver in daylight. Other favorites: USB port, blind spot monitoring, great Bose sound system, dual auto climate control can be set in one degree increments, advanced keyless feature means I never have to take the key out of my pocket to open, lock or start the car – very convenient, engine immobilizer feature prevents the car from starting without the transmitter, large glove compartment.
Driving home from the dealer I went through a mud puddle. After stopping I noticed mud splattered all along the front and rear doors – from top to bottom. Install splash guards for heavy wet road driving. Front grill has recessed geometric patterns which tend to collect dirt and bugs. I considered fog lights, but a Mazda parts man said he had a complaint about how weak they were. The regular headlights are sufficiently bright. The gray screen background color on the information screen and blue background on the audio screen do not match. Once the cruise control refused to engage; I shook the linkage under the hood and so far so good. Tire pressure warning does not display which tire is low.
