Like mainframe and mazdaboy I have had zero problems with my 2007 Mazda3 hatch with the 2.5 liter engine and a manual transmission. I have only done regular suggested service. My 3 has been even more reliable than my 1994 Honda Civic, which had a couple of minor issues in the first 6 years of ownership. As was mentioned any brand and any model can produce the occasional problem unit, but ... Read More
I know the internet prices are often b.s. and I ran into a lot of that when we bought our 2012 CX-9 a few months ago. They were showing prices with the $500 Owner Loyalty and $500 Military rebates applied. I qualified for the Loyalty since I have a 2006 Mazda3, but not the Military. I ended up rbuying from a dealer who didn't do that on their website. They just ... Read More
I replaced my 2007 Mazda 3 sedan with a 2012 Mazda 3 hatchback with manual transmission a couple months ago. With my 2007 Mazda 3, I would routinely achieve 36-37 mpg during late spring and summer months so I figured I should be able to beat the sticker highway rating with my new car by around 2 mpg or so in similar driving. Here are my first four fill-ups: Miles driven: ... Read More
So am I mistaken in believing that mazda has poor reliability/dependability down the road? YES! I have a 2005 Mazda6s, 75000 miles, runs and works great. My son has a 2007 Mazda3s Hatch, runs and works great at 54000 miles. I also have a 2009 Mazda CX-9 Touring. 38000 miles, no warrenty issues. So far the best SUV/CUV I have ever owned.
Well, after a long 2 month suffering with my 2007 Mazda 3 which I was ready to trade-in with a $2500 loss...it ended up with a new transmission! and it runs like a baby again. I fully believe it is a computer problem. I felt uneasy buying a new tranny. When I disconnect my battery it resets and my car shifts thru all 5 gears for awhile. then goes back to the gear 3 incorrect ratio. If it was tranny, wouldn't it not be able to shift at all? Or am I wrong? I took my car out of the shop before replacing transmission, had to ... Read More

Our 2007 Mazda 3 has been driven almost entirely by our 20 year-old daughter, ever since she got her license the day after she turned 16. In terms of miles driven, I would guess overall it's seen about 70% highway, 20% suburban (35-45-ish) and 10% city (30 and under, w/stop and go). mazda ... too many probems with their transmissions Curious. In the April 2010 Consumer Reports Auto issue the 2007 Mazda 3 transmission is top rated (that is, it "had relatively few problems compared with other models"). In fact, the transmission seems to be consistently rated highly from 2006 to 2009. The automatic transmission on my 2002 Mazda Protege5 (precursor to the Mazda3) continues to work flawlessly after 80K miles.
My 2007 Mazda 3's clutch first went out at 29,000 miles. It's gone out again this summer at 63,000 miles. I hate this car. My previous two Honda Civics (both manuals) ran for 130,000+ miles without ever needing any clutch or transmission repairs.
I have a 2007 Mazda Mazda3 wagon and the transmission has been bad since at least 30K. I brought it in but the mechanics kept saying they couldn't find a problem, etc., although they noted the transmission fluid was discolored. They didn't want to change it because it would void the warranty. I brought it in regularly every 8K miles. Finally, at 62K they figure out that there is a problem ... Read More

How many miles do you have on the Mazda3 with the low mpg? If it is still pretty low, it may improve some. It is a different engine (the 2.3), but I got a 2007 Mazda6 in winter of 2007 and it was getting 22-24 mpg in my commute, initially. After it got up to about 10,000 miles, it had improved to more like 27-29 in summer and 25-26 in winter ... Read More

Hi: I recently bought a 2007 Mazda3 hatchback (have wanted one for quite a while - what a great car, I'm loving it already!). I have a general tire question: The tires are 205/50R17 Bridgestone, with max pressure rating of 51 psi. I see that Mazda recommends tire pressure of 32 psi, and that's about where they're set. (And the TPMS, which my car has, is set to around that same ... Read More
My transmission and alternator went out at 31,000 miles on my 04 Mazda 3. I agree with your comments about the tires, one set needed replacement at 12,000. I will not buy Mazda again. The dealer would not do anything about my transmission, said to buy a new car from them!
If it makes you feel better, I'm having clutch problems at 18k miles I'm the original owner and have been driving manuals for 20 years. I'm fighting with the dealer to fix it now. This is similar to what Mazda did for 2007 and 2008 with the Mazda6--added a "value edition". Since the Mazda6 is all-new for 2009 MY (2008 CY), it's probable we won't see a redesigned Mazda3 until 2010 MY (2009 CY). That timing is reinforced by Mazda making this change for 2008 on the Mazda3.

I'd be happy to help you out, stoavio. I'm not personally all that familiar with how accurate the specific lease calculator is on Mazda's web site, but in general I have found that for some reason the calculators that manufacturers sites are often not all that accurate. Let me begin by saying that it is not a good idea to make a large down payment on a leased vehicle. Consumers who ... Read More

I asked Mazda the same question before I got my first 3. Reply: Nathan, The 6-disc CD changer that comes in the Mazda3 does not play MP3's. You would have to change it out with one that can be purchased as an accessory. Regards, Suzanne E. Specialist, Fulfillment So, no, it won't. Also, I thought CD's with CD Text would work, but they don't seem to work on my 2007 either. ... Read More

This I agree with it. Each year that we learn all about a car, a new line comes out for us to start all over again to compare. Hey, this can be fun to do year after year. I didn't mean to knock a car, however I had the worst experience with that car and it made me frustrated to no end to waste so much money. It took me 4 ... Read More

Hi Mark. Mazda's January lease program is different than its December program was. Amen to that. I hate Rabbit's, I had one and they suck. No offense to Rabbit owners. I love my new 2007 Mazda 3 S Grand Touring, fully loaded to the max. A "J" car is simply the best. This has been proven many times over. A "J" car is the first digit in the vin#, this is made 100% in Japan. I have Two Honda's that are "J" cars and ... Read More

Anyone know the price of getting a 2007 Mazda 3s Touring Sedan with a manual transmission in the San Jose/Sacramento/Bay Area? Any good deals out there? Any recomendations?
I've seen stick Elantras at dealers. Some salespeople will say anything to get you to buy what they have in stock now. But since you like how the Mazda3 drives, you'll probably like your new hatchback more than the Elantra--plus the 2007 Elantra doesn't come in a hatchback.
After getting frustrated with the wait time for a fully loaded Nissan Versa, I decided to go back to a Mazda3. I got a metallic black '07 GT hatchback automatic from Norco Mazda (in Southern California) with the Bose/moonroof package and wheel locks for $21,150 (plus tax, registration & fees). I believe that's less than $40 above invoice and less than Edmunds TMV. I was given the price over the phone ... Read More

Well you better hope that it doesn't stall in the middle of a busy intersection or on a highway ramp like it did to me. Stalling is a dangerous problem and you could very easily be involved in an accident because of it - affecting your life, someone elses and even your insurance rates - so yes, I believe that Stalling is a big and serious issue - this probem has ... hey thanks. i talked to the service dept at a mazda dealership in ohio, and they said the 2007's are all 50-state emissions certified so nothing would need to be changed bringing it into cali.
It isn't just the MPG that makes some people like the Civic more, sometimes. If it is, then you may want to reconsider buying a new car period (you should be spending less so you can pay for gas if money is THAT tight). My folks just got a 2007 Civic EX (Atomic Blue) sedan. They love it. I personally like it a lot (a friend of mine has an electric ... Read More
If Mazda ignored (or even flat out refused to fix) a small problem (like a rattle in the dash) while the car was still under warranty I could accept it - after all no car is perfect. But let me focus in on one of the problems that Mazda will not fix - not the AC - but the engine stalling defect. Its clear more than a few Mazda3's have this ... Read More
