2007 Cx7 Chain Slap Noise ?

So just returned from Mazda dealer my complaint was the engine sounds like a diesel ticking noise , At first they said it sounded normal then another tech came over and stated that it sounds like a chain slap noise ,After they removed the manifold they determined that the engine had jumped time and that the timing chain needed to be replaced requesting for me to provide ... I have a 2007 Mazda 3 and the same thing happened to me last week. I was driving down the interstate during a warm day and I also heard air coming in via the sunroof cover and opened it to find a huge hole in my sunroof glass, the whole thing shattered. Any luck with Mazda? Read More...

Well, I hope it keeps working for you! About a year after purchase (new) My '07 CX-7 A/C went out(The compressor) @ 49,000mi and of course it was out of warranty. It would be a little easier too swallow if it was just one part but no it usually ends in most of the system being replaced! I have 36,380 miles on my Mazda CX-7, 2007 and the Mazda dealer says that I need a new engine, due to lack of maintenance. I only had the car for 3 months, it was in under warranty the first week for a new A/C compressor, then in again for a new r/headlight replacement/wiring and all - due to something electrical. Call MAZDA customer service in IRVINE,CA and explain the situation, they know they have higher than acceptable failure rates with the 2007 CX7 AC system, as mysteriously the system was redesigned the following year. Tell them you expect them to take care of it and that you are aware of the issues with the CX7 AC system. And FYI 1200.00 for the parts only is ridiculous ... Read More...

I can't believe my eyes. I didn't realize so many of you are having exactly same problem as me. I owe 2007 CX-7 and I bought this car in Dec., 2008. The car currently has 45K. My A/C compressor broke yesterday on the highway and broke the main belt which locked steering wheel while I was driving. I am a female drive and I panicked. I own a CX-7 GT AWD, trust me when I tell you, go for the turbo. The car is fun to drive, I cannot imagine why you dont want the turbo version. I have 30K, bought it in Dec 2007 as a 08 model, I can tell you I drive from NYC to Florida and it is pure joy when I push my car to over 85MPH in the highway.
